The problem is getting under streets - or, more accurately, finding someone to pay for that!

The existing PATH map shows the eastward connection would be to the Oxford owned Convention Centre:

It would need to pass under the City Park, but that is already strata over a parking garage, assuming there is space under the ramp, this is a very viable connection.

However, there is currently nothing to the north of this site that is PATH connected.

The site directly north is slated for redevelopment, at some point, maybe.....

The Planning Report for that one does mention protection for a future PATH connection, however, there is no retail proposed on level one below and I don't see the knock-out panel marked.

Council is being asked to amend the by-law regarding this project. SEE: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2025.MM34.12
Among the requirements is a PATH route through the whole site with knock outs.

If I remember correctly The Well has a knockout panel for the proposed Spadina GO?

Imagine the PATH snuck along Front St connecting whatever ends up being built at 400 Front Street with The Well and GO Station (Which I still wish would become future “Union West”)

Someday, someone in power will wonder whether it is a good idea to encourage everyone to stay off the street and hang out in basements. Apparently this is not that day.

This photo isn't real, right? Please, someone, tell me this is a joke? First, they remove the twin curved roofs down to just one... and now we don't even get one?? That original render with the opposite curves, one pointing upward towards the CN Tower, was such a great skyline addition. Now this joke? They're about to waste some of the best skyline real estate...

I'm not betting on this getting built as-is. Market rate and affordable rentals is a stupefying waste of incredibly valuable real estate — probably the most valuable in Canada. Oxford is either going through the motions to unload the property or they're burning time to convert these to condos and/or office when the market comes back around. I'll believe it when a crane is in the ground.

Thank goodness! Are people able to put public pressure on these companies to actually stick to their nice designs? Similar to how can you write your MP?

No, lol.

They care about money. If condos are selling or if a major tenant is committed, the thing gets whittled down as far as they can go while maintaining those sales and commitments and then it gets built.

But rentals? That's a huge bet on an unknown variable. If the market tanks, are they going to make any money renting these at $1800/month (thinking the pandemic exodus rates) and under rent control if/when a Liberal government reverses Doug Ford's policies sticking Oxford with years (even decades) long money losing leases?

They're doing none of those things. They're VE-ing the thing to death to try and get it off the ground.

No.
