It was a gas station that was demo'd and hoarded about a decade ago. There was never an official proposal for the land though. Remington owns it.

It''s remington so they move at an absolute snails pace, which is why it's so slow.
it seems that there's a proposal for 2888 Bloor St west (but the forum isn't working). They're planning on building a small 2 story building (Pilate store at grade level and 1 unit above) and a parking lot. a bit surprised by this mini development but at least it utilizes the site vs. it remaining empty for the foreseeable future!

Relevant excerpt from Amber Morley's update to residents:

Dear Residents,

I hope this email finds you well. I’m emailing you as you previously shared your feedback on the proposed development at 2915-2943 Bloor Street West.

I have been informed that the applicant has decided to appeal the application to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), instead of continuing to work with City staff and the community through the municipal development application review process.

When the applicant chooses to appeal their application to the OLT, it is effectively removed from the municipal approval process. All negotiation with the City is paused until and if mediation occurs through the appeal. The application will no longer come before Etobicoke York Community Council for additional public deputations and Committee review/approval.

What’s next?

As this application was appealed prior to City Council passing a decision, City Staff will prepare an Appeal Report with their recommended approach for the City to take at this appeal. When that happens, I will ask Council to direct the City Solicitor to attend the appeal in opposition to the application.

...

Surprising absolutely no one. That said, given Royal York is one of the only subway stations without PMTSA permissions, I'm curious what planning leg they believe they have to stand on here...
