President Donald Trump's United States of America

There’s no ending in this where the current system of government can remain. The United States just murdered their head of state and religious leader. 5 years, 10 years , even 20 years they’ll get their revenge.

Trump of course didn’t think this through. He will get out when it’s no longer convenient politically, even if the objectives haven’t been achieved. As usual, the United States will be mopping up grandpa’s mess long after he’s in the ground.

He will claim that the country is at war and use it to postpone elections
I mean he can try but the United States Constitution doesn’t have a mechanism for postponing elections. US elections were held during both World Wars and the United States Civil War. So yeah, Lt. Bone Spurs is going to have a tough time getting around this one.

Even still. I can see him trying, even if it means declaring martial law.

Martial Law still doesn’t give the Executive power to stop elections. Trump may have been inspired by Zelenskyy but that’s the Ukrainian constitution, not the American.

Term expiry dates are hard coded into the US Constitution. If for some reason states don’t hold or ratify the midterm elections, The US House of Representatives and Senate seats up for election will nonetheless expire on January 3rd, 2027 and they’ll just be regular people off the street with no power.

Trump himself will have his term expired whether a new President has been elected or not in 2028, on January 20th 2029 at Noon — that is if he’s not expired himself.

The only way to solve Gaza is for some kind of international force (not the UN locals who have side gigs with Hamas) there that can successfully disarm Hamas and remove the counterinsurgency excuse of Israel. And for all the talk about peace, there's literally nobody interested in that mission. The history of Palestinians in Jordan, Lebanon and Kuwait should provide a hint as to why nobody wants this. Ask yourself why the Egyptians seal the Gaza border every time.

There's also a historical analog for the above. India's intervention in Sri Lanka to stop their civil war. And look how that turned out for India.

But sure I get that nobody is interested in any solutions here but "Israel bad."
...but that wasn't really my point. But okay.

Anywhoose, I will say I am no expert on international policy and whatnot. It isn't really my field. So I will just leave it that my desire is for a just society...and one that isn't brought about by military incursions, bravado and Hegsbreath wankerness. I do not believe that's an unreasonable goal. But I will agree that's not happening today.

...as well as state, Trump and BIbi can go roast a turd in Hell for this. And that opinion is not negotiable, sorry to say. >.<

Ah well.

US warplanes were brought down in Kuwait, the war seems to be spreading across the Middle East and there's a good chance the stock market will tank today.

I'd be very interested to see how this all plays out in the court of public opinion.

I feel like this is Trumps Ukraine where he thought it would be a quick in/out only to be stuck there for a few years.

I know it won't lead to the 25th amendment but if troops start dying and this war drags on I can see the House/Senate taking action.

American troops have already died and there is speculation they are lying about the amount

I realise that.

The point I was making is that if things go sideways because Trump didn't think this through he's cooked.

Say what you will about the house and senate but if the public suddenly turns against things with the midterms coming up they will act.

I know its early but things do look like they are going sideways for the Americans and their allies.

I wonder if they were emboldened by their Venezuela actions and just foolishly thought it was repeatable.
