I will put my money on: the city awards the lowest cost bids and the contractors either don’t know what they’re doing or don’t give a shit — or both.

This is the brand new, recently installed paving at the corner of Front and Bay. I tripped on a raised tile, they’re all wonky and uneven by a cm or two. It’s embarrassing work.

Meanwhile, at CIBC Square across the street, I had a peek at the masters at work cutting granite and dropping it into a space that fits like a glove.
CIBC Square tented and heated their workspace for 1-2 months. Was this Union Station area the result of working with the frozen ground? I think you are right, we will see a pylon, a pothole patch or maybe a spare concrete barrier. Maybe you could call 911 and get them to put police tape around this crime.
I’m betting it’s fixed the week before World Cup starts.

^...I suspect the interests rates of said bank will be most favourable to everyone here with a bank card which will come with it's own customized tag. <3

This is about halfway between Yonge and Bay (though closer to Bay), looking north. They used some nice warm colored cladding here (I believe that this and a ground realm section just west of the Yonge may be corten steel). I was certain that they had opened the walkway back up to pedestrian traffic, though it turns out the gate had merely been opened to let in a truck, so I got scolded for not wearing a helmet.

You and a few dozen people before the Leaf game last night for the two minutes I was there.

It’ll be too bad if this laneway remains like this for several more years next to a beautifully paved plaza.
I'll certainly take the laneway being the way it is for another 20 years, if it means Larco somehow going bust so we dont have to see their embarrassing dreck proposal ever being built.

Looking forward to seeing this plaza being completed though.

^Their plans for this are...well, not very promising, IMO.
