You're welcome! Thanks for saving me some time posting images today haha. I'll share one image taken from the other side of the Lower Don Crossing.

Also going to share CLC docs that are about a month old but have some great photos from Corktown, the cut-and-cover tunnel East of Cherry Street and more Lower Don Crossing shots.

The interesting detail in those shots is that the most recent base of the bridge that has been assembled is actually the westmost piece - you can see the slots that the top arch pieces will fit into. So, at this point, the bridge is being built from the west end towards the part that is already built. Hopefully the twain will meet in a good way.

this is so weird, why would they lie about that. they didnt like the idea that other countries produce better cars than us? at a cheaper price?

Also the reference to go Expansion trains too. The rumored electric locos that have been scrapped?
I don’t know that they hid that for the Ontario Line. The reduction of Canadian content has been widely known.

Also, as I’ve said before, Alstom is perfectly cable of building quality rolling stock in Thunder Bay, so I’m not entirely convinced we could get something “better”. If CRRC’s and indication, we could get something much worse.

do they? When was the last time Alstom built EMUs let alone driverless EMUs? Sure i would like our industry stimulated but if that is at the expense of getting things right and not having any fundamental issues like the citadis trains are experiencing
i rather give the contract to a foreign supplier who is competent. at least we wont be wasting money on fixing issues after issues.

I can't remember who brought it up but the "transit hub" suffix to East Harbour is really starting to bother me now too. We don't even call Union, which connects EVERY GO line, TTC Line 1 + all major long haul bus routes, a transit hub.

If it's a new naming idea, what makes this a transit hub and Exhibition not? They will both service 1 busy GO line, Ontario Line + 1 streetcar route. Exhibition will be serviced by the Dufferin bus too.

They are building driverless EMUs right now for Vancouver.

Just ignore it like “Durham College Oshawa GO”.

fair enough but the SRT which the current sky train architectural is based on was fraught with problems in the snow. vancouver is a much warmer climate so who knows if those trains will experience the same issues in our weather.
look at the citadis.... it wouldnt hurt to explore elsewhere

The Mark V, and Mark III, for that matter is very different than what the SRT had. Not to mention the Innovia platform is not bound to linear induction motors anymore, which was largely a poor fit for ice and snow.

The Citadis Spirit would have been problematic whether it was built here or not. What Ottawa wanted could have been just as problematic for another manufacturer.

It's all about marketing and rebranding stuff to make it sound more appealing than it really is. We can probably thank a BlogTO type intern for the idea. Someone who knows a lot about social media, but not much about transportation.

Hopefully, the idea falls off after completion, and it's just referred to as East Harbour Station.
