Hamilton The Design District 41 | ?m | 31s | Emblem Developments | Arcadis

If the third tower is Chrome... did the first two also get monikers I missed? Naugahyde? Bakelite? Pleather? Formica? Insulbrick?

Design District was the branding for the first two - including "furnishings from Louis Vuitton" and "Miami, New York, and London are defined by landmarks. The time is now for the next landmark to be born." And somehow, it will be such a landmark, it will manage to "forever change" Toronto as well as Hamilton!

You know.. because a generic condo in Hamilton is definitely on par with the Empire State Building or Buckingham Palace. (also, is Miami really defined by landmarks? There aren't really that many buildings there with global notoriety..).

I mean, I know they need marketing material, but it's superrrr cringe for this one. I do wonder there must be some rubes enamored by this stuff...

Yeah.. the ones who move into this building...
I mean, I purchased a condo back in 2014 and the marketing material wasn't what convinced me to purchase whatsoever, regardless of the marketing, some people need a home to live in, but I'm sure it appeals to someone, just not me. In fact the over the top marketing is kind of off-putting tbh. The most attractive condo in Hamilton to me was the marketing for KiWi Condos. It was focused on urban residents or those that desire to be, and they did a lot of work to connect purchasers with the existing local businesses.

This building... Ehh, they advertise it as mentioned as being able to change... Toronto? My favourite are the condos (like Emblem) that advertise the commute distance to things in a way that shows the marketing person doesn't understand Hamilton at all. I recall 1 Jarvis advertising the driving distance to Mississauga for some reason, the driving time to Hamilton Go Centre (a station I don't think anyone drives to) and that right outside is a weird Karaoke bar?

I also liked the marketing for the Radio Arts. Rather than the gaudy faux marble lobby, it appears they went a bit warmer and more brick focused with warmer lighting which is a vibe I can appreciate. Louis Vuitton is.. not something you would catch me ever wearing, and it's not because I can't afford it.

Keep an eye out for activity on tower 3. I didn't think it was in the cards but word around site is that forming will continue in the next few weeks. Material and equipment for forming were dropped off this week as well.
Do you have any intel for the development across the street (Gary Proctor site)?

Not currently no. They demo'd the old house and have un assembled the roof top equipment on Gary Proctor but no real activity there the past week. I was told that was going to go before Tower 3 but maybe there was a change of plans?
