Hamilton International Airport

Has Porter announced the Montreal Metropolitan routes yet? I wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up later if not.

I don’t think we’ll see much else this year. As is its 2026 is already a ~40% expansion over last summer!
I don't think they have

I am now hearing that YHU will open the new terminal in May of this year (2026). With 9 gates and a capacity of 4 million passengers a year, it will take a lot of flights to fill it. I believe porter is keeping quiet on this one as they do not have a firm date yet.

Year-round service to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Halifax, St. Johns, Fort Lauderdale, possibly Montreal plus some seasonal destinations sounds very good compared to where the airport was a year ago. I hope the airport can maintain at least this level of service. Would love to know how well things have succeeded so far.

Porter is a great airline, but I worry about how they are doing financially.

Current Summer 2026 schedule from YHM!

As of now, Westjet is slated for 1x daily (same as last summer), except its now an afternoon departure/arrival instead of the night arrival and morning departure.
Vancouver frequency cut from 14x weekly to 11x weekly.

Thanks for these by the way. I never could wrap my head around airport schedule planning until your easy-to-read formatting here.

Not sure if this will work, but reel from HAM Intl Airport, showing off covered passage to plane
Instagram usually fares better here:

I'd add Ottawa to that list (even if its only like 2-3 times a week) for year round flights

Definitely better than trying to get to Toronto first for Flights, trains, or buses!

Anyone heard rumblings of a European destination out of YHM? Last year I heard porter was asking the airport if they could handle wide body aircraft. My guess is a porter/transat partnership. And Recently I heard that airport management mentioned that a European destination is being looked at.

I mean you don't need widebodies. The 321LR can easily make European destinations from Hamilton, and is well within the MTOW of the runway at Hamilton. Transat has 19 321LR's

If we do get Europe I imagine it’ll be London - at one of the airports there. It’s by far the highest demand flight route to Europe and doubles as a relatively short trans Atlantic flight which makes it easier to do affordably.

Getting some California flights would be nice too. If we could get London, SF/LA, and Ottawa/Montreal, I think I’d be pretty happy with the service offering at that point.

Will be nice if Hamilton can hang onto the current roster. But Newark/New York would also be nice.

I could imagine Stanstead STN would make a great connection point, but who would fly and codeshare. Mind you if Ryanair made the leap, that would be a huge step.

I am also hearing that Air Transat maybe doing europe this summer from YHM. They will have to do something with all of the aircraft they are pulling from the US. It looks like Porter will now be doing all of Air Transat flights to Florida on a code share. When you go to Air Transat site it will give you a Porter flight for the states.

I took Flyglobespan in 2007 from Hamilton to Stansted, twice. It was great. First time was one of their first flights, and for some reason we were given vouchers for the train into the city, the cost of which is one of the biggest downsides to Stansted. Other time I had a seamless connection to Air Berlin. That airline has also since folded, but Stansted has a tremendous number of low-cost routes all over Europe.
