Toronto Exhibition Hotel + Venue | 112m | 32s | Harlo | Populous

I assume, like most stadiums and venues, naming rights will come up. personally i would like to see a change from the same companies, i.e., BMO, TD, Rogers, Bell, names maybe something different, like the Telus Center or Loblaws Place, idk something different.
As much as I hate our corporate overlords naming all of our stadiums and arenas the same thing, we should count our blessings that Canadian cities haven't been scarred with the likes of Smoothie King Center, KFC Yum! Center, or Guaranteed Rate Field.

Something, anything new with flair & style desperately needed in the exteriors, facades of Toronto’s bland venues, arenas, stadium scene.
Not quite sure this is it, but it’s passable.

The previous giant space helmet always was just a fantasy. It should never have been taken seriously. This at least has a chance of actually being built.

Don't forget Crypto.com Arena 🤣

My vote is for Smoke's Poutinerie Centre 😁

So no more 'OverActive Media' as the proponent?
Can we assume 'Harlo Capital' is an entity that actually has the money to build this?

If it really happens, it could be a race with the Live Nation rebuilding of the venue across the road to be indoor/outdoor and used year-round.
And hopefully it's still planned to be a theatre layout like the OLG Stage at Fallsview, and not the generic multi-purpose college gymnasium type of set-up with the flat floor in front of the stage like Woodbine, Pickering, and Rama.

A car company? The NFL venue in Atlanta is Mercedes-Benz Stadium, so maybe a 5500-seat theatre here might be conceivable for them.

Is it just me, or does it look a lot like the Cheapening of what ever U of T is pretending to be planning to build where the Planetarium is. Centre for Fizzleizations?

Not as spectacular but I still like it and this size of venue + more hotel rooms are both going to be great additions to the city. Plus, Exhibition Place badly needs more going on.

Garbage. The old rendering was too good to be true in some ways, but this will only add to the sense that this stretch of the Lakeshore is doomed to have contrived, ugly, bunkerlike complexes....thst somehow are supposed to be somewhat luxurious?

It will get worse.

Anybody recall what Hotel X was supposed to look like?

Then it ended up looking like some wedding & events conference centre off the 427.

Just watch. As soon as they have Exhibition Place and municipal approvals, they'll pull the same trick.

And the truth finally comes out for what this will be: A concert hall, which can accommodate concerts, esports competitions, conventions, and corporate events. This was never going to be an e-sports stadium, it was all a delusion/facade.
I'm not sure if I am understanding the negative aspect of this being multi-use. We are lacking a venue of this size in general for mid-range concert sizes, large comedian acts, and I am sure that e-sports can fill it up many days of the year too.

Yes. I can't imagine them wanting to operate it though. There is likely an additional partner involved.

I dont got a problem with it being multi-use, i'm just pointing out that the fact that it was a mirage for this thing to be pitched as an e-sport venue to begin with.

The bigger problem I have with this thing, is that it looks like sheer gutter trash. This city and our developers really have no shame when it comes to bestowing absolute trash along the waterfront.
