It seems that rebuilding and integrating the GO station into the development is no longer part of the plan unfortunately.
A detailed design contract has been awarded to improve access to the station.can they not fix Mimico in the meantime? build a second entrance from the opposite end of the platform
Glad to see the Ontario Government is "serious" about the AODA.A detailed design contract has been awarded to improve access to the station.
I was just responding to the question about whether mimico station could be improved in the meantime. Metrolinx’ delivery on major projects/promises is atrocious, I agree with you, but at least the design is progressing.Glad to see the Ontario Government is "serious" about the AODA.
They cant even adhere to their own accessibility timelines.
I wont what the completion date over here will be...2034? +/- a couple years.
Metrolinx is combatting this problem by having a staff member stationed at the platform, who is happy to help my wife struggle up and down the stairs with the stroller.Every day arriving caregivers with strollers or travellors with suitcases struggle to get off the platform when they find out there is no elevator.
Flight path for what? Toronto Island? That's a big miss by the proponent's due diligence.Due to a flight path, the newest proposal (December 2025) has storyes reduced from 55 to 43, from the new proposal:
"In response to technical comments received following the original submission, the heights of both towers have been reduced from 51 storeys (176 metres) and 55 storeys (188 metres) to 43 storeys (145.82 metres) each. As a result, both towers remain beneath the flight path and, on that basis, NAV Canada has confirmed there are no concerns."
Regarding the GO station: In the Minister's response to the 2025 MPP petition to finally start making Mimico GO accessible (barrier free access to platforms, as AODA requires) the word "tunnel" is not included anymore, although on May 14th 2025 they claimed that a contract was "awarded to design a new tunnel". They did not provide an estimated date when the station will finally be accessible / barrier free. The rendering the Minister shared of the tunnel portal is from 2018 when metrolinx shared their plan to have the station accessible by 2023, seen in a presentation given to the community, including their plan for Park Lawn GO / Long Branch. Since 327 Royal York Road has a history of going bankrupt it's unknown why metrolinx did not at least build the accesssibility tunnel themselves as planned in 2018 as it would have reduced their risk of failing to meet the 2025 AODA deadline. Every day arriving caregivers with strollers or travellors with suitcases struggle to get off the platform when they find out there is no elevator.

I wondered the same thing. It can't be Toronto Island. The taller towers of Humber Bay Shores are about a km to the east.Flight path for what? Toronto Island? That's a big miss by the proponent's due diligence.

I believe it for the south-north approach to Pearson. I sometimes see jets flying that corridor. Though it is purely a guess.I wondered the same thing. It can't be Toronto Island. The taller towers of Humber Bay Shores are about a km to the east.
