Toronto 34 Southport | 107.15m | 32s | State Building Group | Studio JCI

What happened over at Studio JCI? There's been a marked reduction in design quality and in use of colour in the last year or so.

Hmmm.

@innsertnamehere is often up on architecture industry gossip...... let's see if he knows.

Love the timing, we were posting at the same time.

They had a new principal join a year or two ago.. might be that. Haven't worked with Studio JCI enough to know.

Studio JCI took over most of Richmond's projects when Sal retired a few years ago from my understanding, a bit of it may just be them getting saddled with Sal's files.

Community consultation on February 24, via Councillor Perks' newsletter.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some community context regarding the Southport / Swansea area, as several development proposals are now being discussed within a relatively small radius.

Many local residents are paying attention because multiple projects — including proposed towers of approximately 32, 36, and 20 storeys — are being advanced close together. While growth and redevelopment are understood, there is concern about the cumulative impact on traffic, infrastructure capacity, sunlight, privacy, and neighbourhood scale.

A community petition has been started to encourage broader public awareness and to request meaningful consultation and balanced planning outcomes as these applications move forward.

If you are interested in learning more or following the discussion, the petition link is here: https://c.org/s4MKFz2Zgt

Residents are mainly hoping for constructive dialogue with city planners and councillors so that future growth better reflects local context and infrastructure limitations.

Thank you for taking the time to read and discuss respectfully.
