People really need to watch the whole presser. I never, ever watch Trump pressers. I watched this one. It's not just that he said he won't work with Machado. Him and Rubio said they are talking to Maduro's VP. If that's true then it looks like they just wanted to replace the China/Russia/Iran friendly Maduro with a more America friendly Rodriguez. Though this now appears to be in dispute by Rodriguez herself. We'll see.

It's interesting to me how you literally saw these systems fail to even disable a single American aircraft and then advocate that Canada should buy those. Because "not American". It's also interesting how you never land on non-American Western systems that work (that the CAF has actually purchased).
Setting aside the geopolitics here. For everybody else, what you're seeing is a competent military using stealth aircraft in a combined arms manoeuvre to bring everybody home. Not one American life lost in a country that had literally handed out a million AKs. This is actually what Putin thought his boys would pull of in Kyiv in 2022.

I don't think Trump would really want Canada as a state either, with full voting rights and representation in Congress.
I don't see how Trump plans to 'run' Venezuela. There is still a state apparatus below Maduro that will function in the mean time. Do they mean to bomb Venezuela into submission as a way of Trump 'running' it?
Whenever he has talked about taking over Canada, it was as a territory with no voting rights.

I think the new person on the job (VP Rodriguez) gets her turn at "Deal or No Deal". If she makes one, she lives. If she doesn't, the exploding steel rain will come again.
Way to people are acting like regime is over in Venezuela. I think only the Chavism is over. They now get to be America's b***h instead of hanging out with the CRINK buddies.

I'm not sure that impeaching Trump for what will have been a popular military intervention will work. Again. No loss of American lives. And they'll have Maduro in court shortly explaining all the bad things he did. Then Dems will try to impeach?

Another angle, in addition to drugs and oil, might be a remigration destination that he has some control over. He mentioned in his presser about the thousands of Venezuelan people who are dying to return (he said the same about Cuba). While there might be some who would be wanting to return if it became more stable and democratic, part of me thinks he is looking for an offshore country he controls that he can ship undesirables to. Quite frankly, I'm not sure he differentiates between Venezuelans, Cubans or any other Latino nationalities; to him they're all swarthy people who talk funny (and clean his toilets).

Popular? ...I mean, has he been given a miracle boost in the polls over this?
I can tell what this likely hasn't resolved: Drugs poring into the US including fentanyl, sky rocketing health premiums, food prices spiralling out of control, the economic rot that those tariffs have brought, folks minding their business getting arrested off the streets with no due process, those pesky Epstein files that point to a Pedobear-in-Chief, I could go on...
...but that doesn't matter here, as even if this resolves all these..and even if this was all done for the noble'ist of reasons with the smoothest of execution, it's still was illegal and likely considered a war crime by many standards. The wrong that does not make a right. As it s important for a free, just and democratic world that we don't invade our neighbours and replace sovereign leaders because we don't like them. Or because they have more oil reserves and riches than us. Or whatever grievances we may have with them, legitimate, perceived and/or imagined.
And finally, in light of threats made to our country, I wouldn't be waxing apologia over this here regardless how "favourable" this was with this administration..or this could turn into a lesson of being careful of what we wish for. And how.
