In the latest blow to the US offshore wind industry, the Trump administration announced Monday it is suspending the federal leases for all large offshore wind projects currently under construction, citing unspecified national security risks.

It marks a major escalation in President Donald Trump’s attacks against offshore wind, a form of energy he has long railed against. The suspension could impact billions of dollars of investment and stall nearly six gigawatts of new electricity set to come online in the next few years.

The new sweeping order impacts five projects being built in the Atlantic Ocean, including a massive Virginia offshore wind farm that could eventually be the largest such project in the nation. Set to be completed by the end of 2026, it would supply electricity to Virginia, the state with the world’s largest cluster of power-hungry data centers — and skyrocketing energy costs partially tied to that growing demand. Other wind farms impacted are off the coast of New England.

The exact national security risks of concern are unclear. In a news release, the Interior Department cited “national security risks identified by the Department of War in recently completed classified reports,” but didn’t say specifically what those risks were. The release also noted the potential for wind turbine movement and light reflectivity to interfere with radar.

In a Monday Fox Business interview, Interior Sec. Doug Burgum said the Department of Defense has “conclusively” determined that large offshore wind farms “have created radar interference that creates a genuine risk for the US,” especially “our east coast population centers.”

CNN has reached out to the Department of Defense for comment on its new report.

In his Fox Business interview, Burgum said radar interference can “create real issues for trying to determine what’s friend or what’s foe in our airspace for our country” and suggested they could also create issues for commercial aircraft “given the proximity to all the large airports” on the East Coast.

Nah. It's Golden everything now. Golden Dome for air defence. Golden fleet for the navy. I wonder how long before the army is called the Golden Hoard. And given the utter gross disaster of their new frigate, I've heard it said that nothing represents the vapidity, impotence and ignorance of this administration than painting a Coast Guard cutter grey and putting in the Golden Fleet.

Trump unveils plan for 'Trump-class' battleships to boost US sea power​


President Donald Trump announced on Monday plans to build a new “Trump-class” of battleships — larger, faster and “100 times more powerful” than any before — aimed at cementing U.S. naval dominance, starting with two vessels as part of an expanded “Golden Fleet.” He said the project would eventually be expanded to encompass 20 to 25 new vessels.

The planned build-out of warships will ultimately result in "more tonnage and firepower under construction than at any time in history," U.S. Navy Secretary John Phelan said, adding that components would be built in every U.S. state. He said the battleships would not only feature the "biggest guns" ever carried on a U.S. warship but also would carry nuclear-armed, sea-launched cruise missiles. The first of the new battleships will be christened the USS Defiant. In addition to the new battleship class, the Golden Fleet envisions an increase in the number of other types of war vessels, including a smaller, more nimble frigate class previously announced by the U.S. Navy, Trump said.

Just heard about this... absolutely wild that Global put it up on their app for streaming, and provided us all the clip that CBS/Paramount and Trump trying to hide from us, all so they can get their merger with Warner Bros approved... 🙄🙄

I don’t believe Global aired it. My understanding is that they received the original package earlier—likely because NFL football frequently delays the CBS broadcast. However, someone at Global appears to have uploaded that original package, including the spiked piece, to the app today.

My guess is human error, though some are jokingly calling it a “Corus hero.” Either way, it’s since been pulled, and it’s now a game of whack-a-mole online. Find it while you can.

The US has had a policy of strategic ambiguity. They never say which ships carry nukes. This way adversaries won't know which ships to focus on. The future crews of these ships will sure be grateful for Trump telling the world to aim for them.

Did anything happen to your icloud account? It seems the Youtube uploads got hit/are getting hit with DMCA takedowns, but those on Bluesky and the Internet Archive are still up. Also copies are on torrent and Mega (as the article I linked notes).
 
It's complicated, but I had to remove all my original posts and hosting of it due to a legitimate threat of being sued. Having said that, it was already disappering on various platforms for many, partiuclarly in the U.S.
