That Matcha cafe looks anything BUT cozy

I do too, but there's so much that could've been done to better design this and integrate it within the space adjacent to the church.

Considering the developer/architect combo, could was precluded by the forementioned.

The podium is ghastly even when it's just a tiny bit of it peeking into the shot. That's concentrated awfulness!

On the plaza I do like the reference to the Simcoe Linear Relic Park.

I would have at least done the random ledges on this project in a slightly different tone to make them stick out though nothing can really fix this podium next to a wrecking ball

Podium colour must've been inspired by the salmon you'd find at the former sushi place on the block here.
