Toronto BMO Field Renovations | ?m | ?s | MLSE | Gensler

Do the north end seating changesmake it impossible to have the full CFL field now for the Argos? I realize they want to shorten things with the rule changes. Just curious if this makes it so that there's no option to do full end zones under the previous field dimensions.
Pretty sure the full CFL field will still fit. Only the new luxury suites are permanent. But they are so far back it won't be a problem.

I think technically they could go back if the league went that way - but I suspect permanent changes will be made to remove the TFC seats, and then shift the field slightly so that there is a 10 yards fan zone-type atmosphere for both teams

Colombia are stronger than Portugal atm, id be more surprised if Portugal won their group
As a Colombian Canadian I am really crossing fingers to get Colombia in Toronto. A Colombia vs England sounds good too, but I would not mind if we end up seeing Ronaldo here.

Stumbled upon this thread a few weeks ago and have been scrolling through it as my form of daily reading for a little while now and I must say, some of the takes from the early days of this thread are wild, its nuts to see how far the stadium and surrounding area have come in a sub 20 year time frame. If you told the people posting back then when it was a single tiered stadium with crappy turf we’d be prepping to host World Cup games in the summer they would think you’re nuts.

Moving to current day I do think MLSE and the city have gotten a little unlucky with the timing of things. The two main developments that are relevant being the shortened CFL field in 2027 and the winter MLS season. You’d have to think if these points were known by MLSE prior to finalizing the World Cup plans they would have a vested interested in at least making some sort of permanent/ weather proof element part of their renovation plans as this is going to directly help with ticket sales when TFC have to play more games in cold weather. The shortened CFL field could have also meant a different design to the north end of the stadium, perhaps more seats and the removal of that dead zone at field level that I’m sure they’ll make a beer garden anyway. Also kind of a moot point due to the field not changing sizes for 1 more season and the World Cup is this summer, but one can dream.

BMO already had a shortened CFL field so i don't think the rule change will allow BMO to shorten the CFL field.

They are shortening the field even more
How much more will BMO CFL field get? MLSE certainly knew about the change ahead of time and could have gotten specials dispensation if they wanted to incorporate the change to BMO if it was significant.

I thought BMO had a regulation size CFL field but maybe not. Having said that, I can see a world where the north end field level seats become permanent once the new CFL field size is implemented. I for one am liking how the north end is coming together. Enclosing the stadium gives it much more of a "major league" feel.

Starting in 2027 CFL is shortening it's field length. (Even shorter than the current set up).

Had the timing aligned better some of the current BMO renos probably could have been made permanent.

BMO field end zones have always been 2 yards shorter (4 Yards total) than league standard.
The CFL are changing the field size to 100 yards in 2027 from 110 yards now.
So it will mean a net change of 6 yards (5.5m) smaller field that can go into BMO than today

I believe the end zones are also being shortened by 5 yards so the net reduction of a standard field will be 20 yards, for BMO, it will be 16 yards.

If its that much then they can make permeant the north end changes for the world cup in 2027.
