Arcadis has announced that they are the architects, and have released more renderings. I'm including the new ones plus some close-ups here, will pop them into the DB file shortly:

Seems to want to relate to the Bond Place Hotel. I kind of like that building but not the non-original ground floor panelling.

They really should restore and integrate the existing brick buildings. Another example of why even insignificant older buildings should be preserved. No human scale, warmth or texture when starting from scratch. And what's with these IKEA colours for no reason?

TMU's primary colour is pretty close to the IKEA blue. It appears here and there across the campus, this isn't the first place.

(Not to say that I find there to be anything redeeming about this plan, don't mistake my defence of blue or my posting of the images as an endorsement.)

I mean it's not Campus One level of bad, but still retains all the jank of being Kirkor'ish, IMO...so it's not that great either.

I think it would have looked better if they went with all white exterior cladding on the upper floors - instead of the two tone approach which made the whole thing look busy and ironically more massive.

It looks so much like IKEA that I forgot about the uni's colours. The blue worked on the Student Learning Center because it sort of blends with the sky looking up, but here it's just an assault on the streetscape.
