Dude is lucky to be alive. Building is a bit of a fixer, I'd say ;)

Photos from this morning. More to come on my photo thread.

First up, a closeup of the trailer fire I referenced earlier:

A month later (July 3rd) and here we are. What are we, Detroit, where burned out buildings are left to fall on their own? Come on, I know Conservatory group is history but someone owns the land. If they can't demolish it in a month, the city should tear down this eyesore and safety hazard and add the cost to the property tax. It's just going to attract the arsonists and vandals more than it already has.

I had a garage fall down from a tree while on vacation in Toronto. And this was exactly the note I got from the city. Clean it up by a certain time and or we will and add it to your property tax bill.

🤨 Conservatory Group.....?

Is that you still kicking around?

Whoa.....it is.................

I'm pleased to see that the summary of this property listed in the website for the portfolio sale managed by EY notes the potential for higher density at this site: "This 6.6-acre property is subdivided for 140 freehold, common-element townhomes, with most servicing already in place. In addition to its low-rise approvals, the property may offer potential for higher-density development in a high-growth, transit-oriented Mississauga location, within walking distance of the Cooksville GO Station and future Hazel McCallion LRT."

While I hope for more density, I really just want to see a new developer get shovels in the ground for any new development at this location, as this site has been sitting vacant for far too long and it is a blight on the community.

I'd rather not - once you build them as townhomes they will stay as townhomes for basically eternity in Sauga - and a site like this should be used for midrises, at a minimum (and are very reasonable new high(er) rises in development in the area).

I don't disagree that midrise or slightly higher would be a better fit for this location, but this site has been vacant for the last ~16 years; it's time to get something built already!

There was some piece of equipment tucked away in a corner of the site when I shot it yesterday. I did notice that the earth dumped on the west side of the site as shown in my December 28th 2024 photo a couple of posts up has been graded. New photos will likely be posted in my photo thread sometime this week.
