Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Drum, do you have a good sense of where the project stands timeline wise; ie a date it may be ready for testing? (obviously it would very approximate at this point, but it certainly does not look at all close in your photos.
The earlest I could see an LRT on the Lakeshore from Long Branch to Brightwater is 2050 and beyond. The first phase of the BRT is only a shotr section and go west to Clarkson that has mojor issues like the LRT. Both have to be underground through Port Credit as well getting under the Credit River. i forgot the timeframe for the construction of the short BRT section and most liely around 2030.

I cannot see an LRT going west of Brightwater as it is poorly low density area with the 23 pickng up few riders west of Clarkson as well in it.

As to why the 501/507 is being talked about regrading Hurontario LRT is the the fact that the city wants to reduce the need to transfer from one system to another. The one issue doing this that either Mississauga or TTC will have to change car design. It will have to be either single end or duel end.

The big issue I have rasied for an LRT on the Lakeshore, will the Hurontaro line be part of this LRT line?? The Hurontario was supposed to go south to Port St and then to Brightwater but the nimby kill it. If huromtario LRTis to be part of the Lakeshore LIne, it only can go to Long Branch if there is a wye connection at Hurntario/Lakeshore how do you splite the service as well where are you going to place stations to service that intersection as well splite service.

The best that will happen for the Lakeshore is an BRT with most of the density east of Hurontario.

As for Testing the Hurontario line, it was supposed to start Feb 2024, then August 2025 but it will happen by summer of 2025 from Topflight to Eglinton that will be the burn-in and training driver test area. As for the whole line late 2026 to 2027 or 2028 depending on the loop.

One thing could happen first is service starting in Brampton to Sq One Station as phase 1 in late 2026.

Took a run to Topflight today before going elsewhere,

Excavateion still taking place where the line will exit/enter Hurontario

Crew working on the 401 overpass with all tarps removed.

Courtney Park Drive Intersection will open this week as its ready now in place of Nov 4th. A few hundred feet of rail has been removed north Courtney Park mainly both rails for both track with a short single track at the begining.

Formwork removed from the planter restraining walls for Derry Station from the platform to Derry. Northbound platform edges have been installed with work on the southbound to be next.

Crew doing formwork for the crossover between Kingsway and Topflight.

Depending on what type of welding or work is needed for a diamond part of the northbound curve, concrete could be pour on Tuesday for the curve track. Wednesday could see concrete pour on both side of the curve track to have the intersection fully pour and possible open over the weekend. There were 3 crews looking at an engineering drawing for that diamond with about 18 personal on site, A small section of road to be pour by the driveway

Some work is needed at the bus driveway and hard to say if it will be done to open the northbound lanes or later on. Rest of the road to the bridge and the 407 ramp is ready to be open.

Did not take a look at the 407 bridge but sump pump pouring concrete for the bridge gideway.

^ realize it would have come with an extra cost, but it's too bad they couldn't have kept the elevated portion going a little further to avoid this intersection in the south and same for a north. Unless it would be too close to stations for the grade the LRVs can handle.

Impossible due to height different. There is a slope starting north of the Rathburn overpass and it is about 5-10 feet above grade at the south south of Rathburn. That is not high enough to give 15 feet clearnce going over Hurontario and Sq One Drive to allow trucks under it. You need to start the slope to grade at Sq One Dr that will require to tear out the Robert Speck Station and build a new one on the south side of the intersection as well change the left turn lanes on both side of the intersection.

It’s too bad they couldn’t have kept the elevated portion going a little further, like 10km to the north and 8km to the south to avoid some more intersections.

There isn't a section from the 403 to the south side of Fairview that has enough room to put in a ramp.

This is what the south end looked like in 2023 for Rathhburn where the bridge stop and the ramp begins. I have a better shot somewhere with the ramp in place.. This shot clearly shows its impossible to elevate the line to Hurontarion due to lack of height clearance. To get the height clearances you need to start at the 403 off ramp with the first peir on Hurontario on the south side of Rathburn Huronrario bridge, You now have 3 elevated stations requiring 2 elevators to the platform as well stairs.

@Dan416 have you looked at the guideway between Central Pkwy and Burnhamthprpe lately??

I saw it today on the 103 from John St and it took me by surprised as rail laying in the guideway from CP to Elm. Ties been installed betweem Elm and Matthew Gates with steel mats sitting between Matthew Gates and Burnhamthrope.

A lot of changes in the last week to the last month from John St to Steeles and will post more in a 3 part posting later.

Major paving taking place tonight for the Hwy 407 eastbound, westbound off and on ramp with bpth the eastbound and westbound off ramps close today as crews were working on them. There is paving plan for the southbound lane where light poles have been relocated in Brampton..

Working on the photos now.

I did but deemed it not far along enough worthy of a picture. From my bedroom I noticed but from far away it looks like they've done more than they have up close.

Part 1
Brampton
They have finally finished the utility work in the northbound lane north of Ray Lawson that the curb is now poured for that block with the road partly paved for the hole and waiting paving between the road and curb. The bus stop was moved north of the area, It will be interesting to see if they open the northbound lanes from the 407 bridge to Country Court as everything is ready to do so as well put the Ray Lawson stop back in ite original location.

The light poles have been relocated out of the southbound lanes south of Ray Lawson with curb in place and the road ready for paving Sunday night or this week. A couple of spots for the northbound lane have new curb replaced with crews cleaning up both sides of Main St work area. No idea if paving is required for the northnound lane.

Looks like they plan to shift the westside sidewalk by the westbound ramp to the 407 to allow renuilding the ramp new location.

All curb work for the 407 westbound off ramp has been rebuilt with most of the paving missing since the ramp was close so paving could take place Sunday night.

From what I could see, the westbound ramp was open with the new one ready to be open. There is still a scetion of curb work as well road work where the existi westbound on ramp is to be done after the new one onpens.

Both ends of the 407 guideway barrier walls need to be form and pour with traffic too busy as well work crew on site to get a look at the guideway.

The eastbound ramp to the 407 was closed as crews were working on it so paving could take place Sunday night for it and Hurontario now all the curb work is done. Don't know if they plan on opening the new northbound lanes on Monday after the paving was done or this coming week or two as it is ready. Therre was no closure signs up for the 407 eastbound ramp at all.

Part 2
After 6+ months closed, Topfight is about to open either this week or next week. What every work that had to be fixed last Monday either delay the pouring of the remaining concrete for the intersection or pouring took longer as it was all trap off on Sunday. A small section on Topflight Road has to be fill in and as wel paving the area between the track and the road on the northside as the southside is paved. A small section of trackwork and the switch to Topflight still needs to see concrete as it is out of the traffic area that will be block off anyway to allow the building of the guideway from the intersection to the 407 bridge.

Concrete curb has been poured for the bus driveway with a steel plate over it to allow buses to get to Hurontario. It was done in two phase by the looks of things with paving taking place this week.

All the trackwork for the crossover is finally ready for the remaining areas where concrete has to be pour. A small section of the southbond track has had rail removed north of the crossover for gauge issues.

Once Topflight opens, Kingsway intersection will be close at an unknown date to rebuilt the intersection.

The crane is gone from Derry Station that was been used to installed the northbound platform edge with the south end section now removed as well no southbound work done. Waterproof material been added to the planter retraining wall where the ramp will go.

I fail to note in part one that once the northbound lanes are open between Ray Lawson and the 407 bridge, guideway work can get underway. North of Ray Lawson not ready for guideway work yet.

One thing i have noticed between the rails in place and the rails being installed now that Fishplate with a bolt joining the 2 plates together at the splice point has a larger gap than the ones that had a plate on both sides of a small gap with c clamps on both sides of the splice area.

Haven't looked at the OMSF trackwork is sometime and will have a look at it the next time I am the area but expect to see what I can see completed.
