The earlest I could see an LRT on the Lakeshore from Long Branch to Brightwater is 2050 and beyond. The first phase of the BRT is only a shotr section and go west to Clarkson that has mojor issues like the LRT. Both have to be underground through Port Credit as well getting under the Credit River. i forgot the timeframe for the construction of the short BRT section and most liely around 2030.Drum, do you have a good sense of where the project stands timeline wise; ie a date it may be ready for testing? (obviously it would very approximate at this point, but it certainly does not look at all close in your photos.
I cannot see an LRT going west of Brightwater as it is poorly low density area with the 23 pickng up few riders west of Clarkson as well in it.
As to why the 501/507 is being talked about regrading Hurontario LRT is the the fact that the city wants to reduce the need to transfer from one system to another. The one issue doing this that either Mississauga or TTC will have to change car design. It will have to be either single end or duel end.
The big issue I have rasied for an LRT on the Lakeshore, will the Hurontaro line be part of this LRT line?? The Hurontario was supposed to go south to Port St and then to Brightwater but the nimby kill it. If huromtario LRTis to be part of the Lakeshore LIne, it only can go to Long Branch if there is a wye connection at Hurntario/Lakeshore how do you splite the service as well where are you going to place stations to service that intersection as well splite service.
The best that will happen for the Lakeshore is an BRT with most of the density east of Hurontario.
As for Testing the Hurontario line, it was supposed to start Feb 2024, then August 2025 but it will happen by summer of 2025 from Topflight to Eglinton that will be the burn-in and training driver test area. As for the whole line late 2026 to 2027 or 2028 depending on the loop.
One thing could happen first is service starting in Brampton to Sq One Station as phase 1 in late 2026.
