Not to further the “Toronto Hydro” discussion too much but this pole is smack dab in the middle of the pedestrian clearway where this raised sidewalk is.

The amount of times I have had SPA comments requiring me to relocate Toronto’s hydros poles that were impacting the pedestrian clearway but the city isn’t doing it when it’s their own streetscape revision excersize???

Maybe they’re waiting for the lifetime property to redevelop to get someone to pay to relocate this pole—lol.

It is a good idea, the residents probably won't like it though.
Imagine going back from groceries and having to park at the Well, take their elevators up to ground floor, then walk across home.
Yes many condo dwellers do this but their elevator from parking leads directly to their suite floor.

So query what do you think people do who have permitted parking downtown? they dont all live in front of their home. Some of them put their cars down the street.
Also, there's a grocery store 5-minute walk from them. with sobeys being a 10 minute walk

If they have a lot of groceries, they could drop them off at home before parking their car. And if they live alone, they don't really a need a car to do groceries - a single person doesn't consume that much food - whatever groceries they need can be carried in a sturdy backpack or one of those shopping carts.
 
Has there been talk of changing Draper into commercial/residential zoning? I.e. if restaurants could open on the street? Not to force residents out, but over time it would likely turn all commercial, and would look amazing

The houses on Draper are hardly suitable for people with mobility issues - 2 storeys, narrow entrances. If they do live there alone getting from their car to their house and vice versa is a minor problem. If they live with someone, they could be dropped off/ picked up at the house - I'm not suggesting the street should be pedestrianised.

Though I agree that if one lives almost anywhere downtown you can probably manage without a car - at least for daily use - and that you could, maybe, cope with more distant parking off-street, I doubt that the Well (or those who run the parking there) would see any good commercial reason to give residents of Draper Street discounted parking.
