West Queen West / A&D District

Do any of the recent zoning reforms make such a change as converting residential to retail possible?

The retail stuff isn't finished yet..........but partially, in that retail will definitely be allowed as an ancillary use (ie. ground floor of a 2-storey house), on certain lots Given the way the retail sizing is capped within neighbourhoods, I don't think you could convert a whole house of any size, and I'm not sure that would be approved since it would be the primary/exclusive use, rather than ancillary.

But it might be.......... The final version will be out in fall.

In general the lots with more substantial permissions (ie. restos) will have to either abut a major street, be a corner lot, or abut a public park. But those details are still being refined.

The based proposal that went out for consultation in June is here:

@innsertnamehere , UT's chief zoning guru may have more thoughts.

I love this market and wish that it was every day! Taken 13 July.

I’ll put this here as it involves several spaces. The much troubled public facility on Abell is getting finished! This is connected to the Toronto Biennale using it and the adjacent park as a hub for their events starting in September. Also hoping that we get some news on the post office development as well.

Toronto basically has a new neighbourhood museum for WQW in the Biennale’s use of space on Lisgar. They did a great job outfitting it with everything except the theatre done. Hopefully it can be a home for the organization and if so will contribute a lot to this part of the city. And finally just a quick note about its proximity to the King-Liberty station as this will make it very accessible to LV and allow it to participate in events happening at Exhibition Place.
