Shops at Don Mills (redevelopment, Giannone Petricone/Pellow + Associates )

Over the past year, I have been invited to meet up with people on 3 different occasions here and have been surprised each time by how many people I saw out and about and how much more of a “community” feel this area seems to have than its environs which always have struck me as some of the most bleak Toronto suburbia. It was interesting to go back through the threads here and see how pessimistic people were about this project, with many commenters in 2009 predicting confidently that they would be forced to cover and convert it to a standard mall in 3-5 years because freezing cold Toronto can’t tolerate outdoor shopping.

It should be replicated more throughout the city

I wish malls like square one or Yorkdale which has stores that face both the inside of the mall and outside would have buildings put up directly across the street with more outside stores to create a balance of shopping experiences.
Ahhh good one actually / makes tons of sense, then maybe you could have some pedestrian only streets maybe
