St Lawrence Market

Cobblestones are being laid on Front south of the Flatiron building. Interesting that to different colours are used.

Good to see progress but these are concrete pavers, not cobblestones. Similar to Berczy. Same will be on Wellington sidewalks.

The fountain on The Esplanade @ Hahn Place is working again. Maybe the first year since 2018 - initially the Lake was too high and the mechanism was flooded and then covid. It's one of my favourite Toronto fountains, simple but effective. Not sure they have got the lighting working too but having the water is a pleasant surprise. I tried to persuade my partner to jump through it for the photo - he refused!

@DSC probably made note of this already; but via Steve Munro's post of the new TTC service summary, which includes service impacted by construction, the date given for the Wellington project to wrap is November '22

I did see that but not sure it is actually true! The construction project IS still supposed to be fully done in October. Then the TTC needs to string the overhead from Yonge to King. Clearly this COULD be done by November 22 but it's the TTC so .....

I couldn't find a thread for the Yonge-Church Corridor (i.e., Ward 13 - Toronto Centre) so I figured here might be a suitable place to mention a proposal for 15 Toronto Street https://goo.gl/maps/ZSbgbhighAZy8mCW9

"The development proposal for the Subject Site contemplates the removal of the existing 11-storey office building and the construction of a 53-storey mixed used development with 296 residential units. The total proposed gross floor area is 23,676 square metres, comprised of 19,096 square metres of residential space, 3,819 square metres of office space, and 761 square metres of retail space, resulting in a floor space index (FSI) of 45.4. A Site Plan Application (22 185153 STE 13 SA) has been submitted concurrently with the application."

There is a thread for this project in the Buildings section:

Earlier this week there was another wave of break-ins/window smashing in the area. Most affected are all the food businesses along Princess Street at Esplanade: Cluck Cluck's Chicken, Sharwarma House and Moegi Sushi were all hit, only a few weeks after finally getting their doors replaced from the previous incidents. This time it is worse, with many of the windows adjacent to the doors also damaged. I imagine this is extremely costly and inconvenient for these very small businesses. (Butter Chicken Roti on King East also has all their windows boarded up, but they are still open. Not sure if this is a reno or similar damage.)20220824_105950.jpgcluck-clucks.jpgshawarma-house.jpgbutter-chicken-roti.jpg
