Toronto 225 Brunswick | ?m | 4s | Kopas Developments | SA

This one, from Nolan Gray, has been making the rounds on Twitter, and should probably be printed out and plastered all over this stupid neighhbourhood.

"We would have strapped on our war gear much earlier..." - Simon Wynberg (*who sounds like a totally reasonable 'neighbourhood character'.)

I've some historical evidence to suggest that prior to 225 Brunswick being a Jewish synagogue, it was a Plymouth Brethren church known as Central Gospel Hall, that met there from 1910-1930. Well-known individuals affiliated or influenced by the Plymouth Brethren include Hudson Taylor, George Muller, Jim Elliot and Billy Graham.

The church was founded in 1893 on the northwest corner of Elm and Terauley (now Bay) Sts. In 1896, it moved to the northeast corner of College (?) & Brunswick Sts., at a location known then as McBean's Hall. In 1910, it moved to 225 Brunswick, where they stayed until 1930, when they moved to Beulah Hall, then into 25 Charles St., where they remained until they folded in 1992, and turned over that property to a non-profit urban initiative known as Sanctuary Toronto, which continues today.

If anyone has further historical data on when the location on Brunswick was this PB church, I would be very interested.
