Can we expect something similar for Ontario Line when the election looms?
Probably not ... Trudeau has already complained out that the Ontario government stopped approving the feds funding Ontario municipal transit after Doug Ford became Premier, holding the the joint $180 billion funding plan for Ontario.

The obvious immediate candidate was the Line 2 extension, which was to open by 2026 until the Conservatives deferred it for years. And the Ontario line, but now that TTC has shut down their work on getting ready to start construction next year, with the whole thing back on the drawing-board instead ... it could be a long time before this is sorted.

I wouldn’t give the Ontario Line a single dollar unless there is a firmly costed plan in place, and the Government of Ontario legally commits to building the project as planned. The federal government shouldn’t have their money tied up in Ontario infrastructure projects when the Government of Ontario has spent the last several years flip flopping and delaying this and various other infrastructure projects.

Plus as was pointed out above, the Ontario Government is already blocking federal infrastructure funding (further delaying projects) for some unknown reason. I really can’t wrap my mind around why Ontario is crying for more transit funding while simultaneously blocking transit funding

This line is vapour ware. Doug hopes that most people will forget about this and defer it until the last minute and then complain that the line was not completed because of lack of funding from the feds (and lack of cooperation from the city) despite saying that the province can build the line without fed dollars.

Ford willl pretty much say anything about anything, and so I wouldn't be surprised one bit if this is what ends up happening

Nope. There are 3 groups of people:
  1. Those who never vote Liberal (i.e. the West).
  2. Those who vote Liberal when bribed (i.e Quebec and Atlantic).
  3. Those who vote Liberal regardless (Ontario).

That's pretty legit. West is where most Cons reside, and anywhere else is a mix on what the voters want elected I find,

Ontario Line Timeline
Jun 9, 2019 - 19:13
As noted, the Ontario Line will likely be using smaller trainsets, but it will also be built through a complex downtown environment, where station building is a monumental task in itself.
Considering that it's taken around ten years to build both the Spadina Line (through greenfield) and the Eglinton Crosstown (through a less built-up environment)- not including the additional time it took to undertake the environmental and engineering studies- how will the Ontario Line realistically make the 2027 deadline from 2019?
How fast will the government be able to tender the project?

Metrolinx

Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario with the City of Toronto and the TTC will continue collaborating and working side by side to build a modern, integrated transit system that will connect more communities to more places, saving them time in their travels.
We are lucky to have world renowned experts on our team and in our partners who will continue to bring together infinite experience and deliver this exciting program on behalf of the Province of Ontario to further our transit network for years to come.
We are in the process of sharing information so that we are able to do our own due diligence for each project and conduct expert panel reviews. We will draw on lessons learned from other projects internationally, using proven international best practices and technologies.

Infinite experience? I am afraid it is very finite, unlike this BS. Seriously, who did they hire for these PR talking points? The same folks who gave us that infamous UP Express video?

Weeks after its own deadline, PC government won’t say whether it’s done plans for Ontario Line

Pierre-Yves Bourque, a spokesperson for Infrastructure Canada, said Thursday the federal government hasn’t received a business case for the Ontario Line or any of the three other transit projects that are a part of Ford’s new plan.

“In fact, what we have received so far for these projects is a two-page document, which is not sufficient to make (a) clear analysis of these projects,” Bourque said in a statement.

“So far, what the Ford government has made looks more like a presentation than a plan.”

Does this really surprise anybody?

Not in the slightest. Let’s wait and see what happens after the Federal election. The new minister of Transport is a lame duck who was demoted from AG and has lost all respect.

Sooner or later people are going to realize the only reason the SSE and DRL were uploaded to Queens Park and their PR mouthpiece, Metrolinx, was to remove transparency from the process and obfuscate how little progress there’s been on these projects. Ontario’s Government for The People can’t afford to have the TTC and it’s accompanying transparency revealing how poorly everything is proceeding.
