Seems worth it to have a clean slate at the corner to work with.

Yeah, because the whole "clean slate" approach, dating back to the urban renewal and site clearing trends of the 1960s and 1970s, has been so successful.

From a streetscape perspective, "clean slate" can often be disastrous, with monotonous, ground floor animation-killing results.

I fail to understand why some people can't seem to take a more nuanced view of the streetwall here.

Obvious signs of top-down construction here. Unless we're seeing a work platform being formed?

Seems to be leaning towards the top-down construction theory with Benito's last pic. Unless they're building a work platform that covers nearly a third of the site!
