Happy Friday, I'm going to Rome tonight, so this my last report until June. I wish it was Argentina so I could ask you not to cry for me :)

Westside Story: The Ground Floor 01 continues with its floor, and some walls new walls are being formed which will represent the stairwells and elevator shafts. Progress is constant but seems to have slowed down a bit this week perhaps due to a more complicated floor plate.

Eastside Story: The east side wall that runs north to south near the 18 Yonge building is almost complete. In the lower centre of the photo, there are some white plastic covered tank shaped items which are currently located in the area which has been labelled as the Diesel Room

Trackside Story: There's been a lot of talk about structural engineering, tolerances, specifications of steel and all that stuff with some pictures, unfortunately, all I know is this is what's on the tracks and here's a picture ;)

What are those random wires seemingly flung onto light posts? I'm fairly certain the infrastructure here is 100% underground.

Even when we do get it rarely right, we still eff it up. Never change, Toronto. You're the municipal version of that guy who had to get evicted out of his parent's home at 30.
 
I'm under the impression that Front Street's upgraded lampposts and traffic lights are still to come. Anyone know more?

Look, by Toronto’s don’t give a shit standards that intersection is a jewel. True there are some wires. But there are no garbage can sized transformers hoisted mid-pole, there are no frontier-town wooden poles, there aren’t decommissioned poles directly adjacent to the functioning poles, the poles are mostly 90 degrees to the pavement, and TH hasn’t plonked down pole-supporting cables mid-sidewalk. And the City hasn’t festooned the poles with a confusing and revolting mess of visual clutter. To those Torontophobic meanies who complain it could be better, I say we’re lucky it’s not seriously worse. Because, Toronto...

If I remember right the City ran out of $$ to do this and we are left with what we had (except the wooden poles at Front & York/University which will, eventually, go.)
I hope that someone will reconsider this once Union is completed as the standard poles do not suit the new street design. Maybe the BIA (Financial District) will deal with this or try to get the City to do so - I will email them!
