As far as I'm concerned, the only downside to this being rental is that we're less likely to get glossy, high-res Norm Li marketing renders to drool over.

Hard to digest all the changes on a project with this much going on, but although a few of the facades look simplified/watered down (the corner building in particular), the splashes of colours are very welcome, the market pavilion looks intriguing, and I'm somehow even more excited about this than ever before.

I love the above look. The question for me is will it look like separate buildings or just like a fake Disney village.

I like the Bathurst and Bloor frontages but I’m not sold on the Bloor-Bathurst corner. The corner massing could be in danger of feeling oppressive yet at the same time strangely sterile at street level.

I was driving across downtown yesterday and I had a funny thought: Toronto architecture does sterile so well that at some point it may flip over and become a redeeming design feature. What I mean is that once you start reaching a certain level of density you aren’t making people’s lives better by encouraging street vibrancy. You may actually be making people’s lives better by taking measures to kill street vibrancy. So maybe they are on to something here at the corner.

Very different view of the Bathurst side of the property today.

I thought the sign was going to be the first thing removed. Anyone know when It will be taken down? I'm really looking forward to seeing the Bloor and Bathurst corner opened to the sky, sans tacky sign.

Avenue, you needn't worry. I'm sure rents here will start at upper middle-class prices.

Any idea how much a 2 bedroom apartment will rent for here? I signed up with the developer to hear about leasing. I'm guessing these apartments will rent for 2500 or more per month.

No idea.

I can only guess based on what I've seen at other recently-built rental buildings. Studio ~1400-1600; 1-bed ~1500-1700; 2-bed ~2000+; 3-bed invite your friends.

rentals aren't going to be occupying for at least another 3 years. The developer will charge whatever market rate is then.

A 1 bed new construction in this area is likely in the 1,800 range right now. There isn't a lot of new build stuff around, but it seems to be going at around that.
