I wonder what potential partners might come up with and with what concepts (and how extensive those concepts will be in reconfiguring Ontario Place).

Also intriguing that the next phase includes only the West Island rather than a wholesale revitalization of the entire park- I also wonder if future phases might also involve revitalizing some currently untouched public realm aspects of the East Island as well- Trillium Park was a good first step, but there's still a large portion that's unchanged.

That was the intent - it's part to the landscape perspective of the West 8 scheme (this park just interpreted it more literally)

The new park is great, I just wonder why they're only now accepting submissions for the rest of the park. I was under the impression a plan was already in place.

I hope whatever they come up with does include a few amusement park-like attractions. Maybe the Wilderness Adventure Ride for nostalgia.

I wouldn't mind a reimagined waterpark either. Canada's Wonderland is far away and as a kid my mother would always take me there in the summer monhs.

Are the elegant, inoffensive, coordinated waste containers destined to be replaced with huge black and blue bins, or does this park somehow fall outside the purview of Solid Waste Management?

This park is provincial not City so I have my fingers crossed.

Yup. Like Grange Park, this one isn't under the sole purview of the parks department. It's why it gets to avoid the god ugly park signage they use and the unholy blue and black wheely bins.

Yeah there's a huge void of kids oriented entertainment places in the city. I think a well made waterpark would burst with families.

I wish they could have gone through with the proposal under the Western Waterfront Masterplan to cordon off a chunk of the lake for swimming as well - but that gone nowhere.

There's a waterpark sitting there unused. They closed it just as my kids were getting old enough to use it. They'll be too old by the time it reopens if it ever does.

I think as it is now it's in danger of just being another park rather then the attraction it once was

New multi-use trail opening soon which will help link Trillium Park to nearby residential. Walking from Fort York to the park is awkward currently as you have to cross bike lanes, this new trail will be great.

When you say you have to cross bike lanes, do you mean the Martin Goodman Trail? Because that's a multi-use trail now. I can't think of any bike-only lanes that you have to cross. Still, this new section is long overdue, and not just because of the beautiful new park!
