March 2026 ridership has been posted. Slight uptick (which is good to see), but seems to be a reoccurring trend year after year as the cold weather dissipates. Curious to see how ridership will change as the year progresses.
The thing is, the 505 doesn’t run after 7 pm on weekends, so it really is just a terrible situation all around
Is this the only true “route increase” anticipated for this year? I haven’t seen any info about the PICs which tend to happen around this time of year
Great post! Honestly insane that Bovaird is being gutted like this. Service was already questionable before, but this is honestly a lot. Since the local route splits off at Airport Road, it’s going to be quite inconvenient especially on Goreway during the midday waiting 54 minutes (midday...
Also sort of interesting: Argo seems to be replacing Routes 25 (Caledon portion), 41, and 81 for a 15-month pilot project beginning October 1st. Makes me wonder if this is in response to low ridership, as well as if this will take off well. Routes 30 and 18 will not be affected as these are...
And the thing is, this year there isn’t really much to really ‘justify’ these continually dropping figures at the moment, like you could have with November and December 2024, where the residual and lingering effects of the strike CUPE831 strike could slightly justify the lower ridership in the...
According to this Brampton Guardian article, Brampton Transit is offering a $25 000 payout to operators to voluntarily leave their positions with the city. It begs the question of how many cuts are too much. Some routes at this point are running well under pre-pandemic levels through these hefty...
I get the sense that the addition of Züm artics is moreso to routes that have been cut significantly to the point where I think BT has realized it was overdone. I know they’ve added artic blocks to both the 18 and 50, both of which are busy in the own right, and both of which were pretty badly...
The Map has been updated as of March 2nd. Small thing but they seemed to have made an error on the little inset map, as it doesn’t seem to show 11/11A, 50A or even 50 service (which also connects at Westmore Station northbound), not that significant but still kind of funny to note.
Edit: Stop...
I mean yes, but at the same time a lot of these cuts are starting to really feel and look really bad. 25 minute and 30 minute midday service on the respective Züm Bovaird and Queen West services are quite a jump, and in the case of Bovaird just makes a service that was already operated horribly...
After looking through some of the schedules there are some pretty deep cuts. Not as bad as January, but still sad to see. Queen West just keeps getting worse and worse, Kennedy is just sad to see, and the Steeles cut is just shocking.
1/1A Queen
Peak service reduced from 11 minutes (combined)...
A vague overview of the March Improvements have been published. The majority “adjustments” again, are service cuts. Interesting to see the BT OnDemand service leave already.

Few updates on this front. The operator of this unit, 1589, seems to have been at fault as of right now in the investigation as she ran a red (that had been red for a few seconds prior). Also at this point the operator has been charged.
More information on the charges
Hope everyone is okay!!
Though I do expect Brampton Transit will repair this unit as they did with 1067, a unit involved in an accident at Bovaird and Edenbrook Hill last year, that had arguably more damage than this.
Fares increase soon. As of February 9th, cash and credit/debit fares hit $4.75, adult PRESTO fares are now $3.55. Honestly it’s now just a matter of time until cash fares hit $5.00
