Here's the latest timeline from The Y:
"...we’d hoped to open your Y in October 2020. We’re expecting COVID-19 to cause a 4 to 6-month delay, pushing our projected opening date to the first quarter of 2021."
It looks like some hvac is roughed in but I don’t see any wallboard going in... there were 3-4 guys putting some materials on the penthouse exterior wall ... but nothing else. I would have expected that they’d be starting to move on the interiors with the windows in... and no exterior cladding...
I’ve been walking by this place for a very long time.
I don’t know what’s normal (but I think the buildings at main and Kingston went up way faster).... but it looks near deserted. I know the recent article shows them working on the Y inside, but what is the normal timeframe for a building...
Just caught this on the Toronto subreddit:
(sorry - don't know how to link/post the picture) -
some progress in the NVA displays -

Views from those terraces looking south could be pretty awesome.
Can't wait for another lane closure on KR.....
The traffic stoppages by "security" for the new developments at Main and KR are insane.
quickly looking at the documents - there appears to be a "turntable" for vehicles so they can turnaround on the site. interesting. (or am I reading this incorrectly?)
From my home - I would say I save 30-45 minutes, not including the stress of knowing if traffic is going to come to a complete stop on the drive out.
A $12 Uber to Union and a $9 UPX fare is well worth it for a 3-4 day trip for me.
I've also done a UPX/Line 2 trip on the way home mid-afternoon...
I've taken the UPX a couple of times this month - usually heading out to PIA in the morning and returning in afternoon rush hour. And yes - the cars were full.
Don't know what it's been like mid-day but It was great to see it being used.
make sure you tell them to transfer you to take the post-call survey. I remember they made a big deal a while back about how good their satisfaction numbers were. I had a brutal time with them - and asked them to make sure I got transferred through to the caller survey at the end of the call...
I'm not a mason (or even handy around the house) - but there looks to be a fair bit of missing mortar / cracked masonry, especially around the faces. Is this normal, or something they would look after later? Just seems weird to see the missing mortar after being wrapped up for so long.
Just...
You've got to share this with Brad Ross on Twitter Not only is it incorrect, it's a total waste of manpower. They shouldn't even be on a car if both readers are not working as TTC policy is to allow presto users to tap at the next point of use/entry.
I know it's basically a convention hotel but I wonder if it will be called "Hotel X" when it opens?
Q:"Where should we stay when we visit Toronto honey?"....
A:"Well, the Hilton, looks good - so does the Shangri La... Or how about the Four Seasons??...... Nah - actually let's try Hotel X ! "
Ok, it's my fault that I didn't follow your instructions.
I went to a reader at Union. Tapped and then hit cancel.
I should have read your note that said "press the Cancel button on the left, and tap again, that will reimburse the $5.30."
So now I have completed and closed the first open...
