Dundas Square should have been zoned to having the highest heights in Toronto. At about 1500 feet. Times Square is surrounded by tall buildings which gives it a closed and immense feeling. That is always lacking in Dundas square.
Toronto is a very hot market even with the pandemic. So I think this site will not stay undeveloped long. Should be some news next year once the pandemic is over.
North American cities were fairly dense before World War II. After the war ended, it was the age of automobile and suburbs which led to the hollowing out of cities and many buildings were demolished and turned into parking lots.
Now with people coming back into cities, cities are becoming dense...
Greater Toronto Area is quite unique among North American metropolitan areas that there are large skyscraper clusters spread out all over. Don't think this exists anywhere else in North America. With Mississauga skyline to get even more crazy in the next 10 years. It will confuse people even more.
This should be fully complete by 2045. By that time the Square One District will be done, East Harbor will be complete, Metro Toronto Convention Center will be re-developed, a new Stadium replacing the Skydome would have been built, and the Ontario Line will be done as well and hopefully Toronto...
I wish the top floor would have been a restaurant with outdoor roof top patio or something. Toronto sorely lacks roof top patios. Would have been a great location for one.
