TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

If the rail division is actually sold along with the last of the commercial aircraft division, I'd be reminded of the line from Office Space... "What would you say you do here?"

Hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question. What happens when a major disruption stops streetcar traffic on routes with a dedicated right of way. There'd no bus stops at curbside any more right? Where do the pax line up and board?

When 4603 finally makes the scene x number of days into January it will not in fact be x number of days overdue. IIRC, the schedule actually called for the final car and only that one to arrive November 2019. All the rest including 4602 were due by 10/31/19. If you scroll back in this thread...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Feds are already blaming Ford over these layoffs. Ontario is only one market and BBD will now struggle to get sales in large markets like NYC and London for example. Not due to any action or inaction from government, but the poor reputation due to quality and on time record of BBD itself.

It's not just a matter of car vs transit. It's a matter of dollar volume and potential. Would you rather have the contract to deliver every streetcar built in Ontario or every automobile? Squeeky wheel gets the oil in this case I guess.

FWIW BBD managed to deliver 10 units in the month of December 2018. In the first 63 days of 2019 they have delivered 9. Not sure if flatcar availability is really the issue....

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

BBD has averaged 7 days per delivery thus far this year. For them to meet target they need to average about 7 deliveries per month. So they are about 5 behind already. Rest of the year they need to deliver a car every 4 days (including weekends and holidays). There are not even on pace with TB...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I do not recall seeing any official delivery schedule update from BBD or TTC comments thereof for 2019 thus far. It may be moot, as the rest of the cars are supposed to be delivered by end of FY 2019. That means they need to deliver roughly 20 per quarter. 10 every 6 weeks. Anyone think that...

That would reasonably explain their shortfall in January, but does not really explain how they magically manage to get 10 out in December. If they can do that in December and still miss a week, why can't they do that more often? Are they actually stockpiling finished vehicles in TB?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I think it would be four actually. But more importantly they need to get five out this month just to keep up the pace with last years average output from TB. Finding it hard to understand why BBD can ship 10 units in December and coast to 4-5 max in January. They seem to want a soft start in Q1...

4524 would bring them to what...4 deliveries in January? They need to average about 7 per month to reach the quota by year end. Hopefully they can ramp this up soon!

Have we reverted to a new style Julian calendar? 2019 is only 2 weeks old not 1-1/2 months old.

Not trying to start a heated debate about this. I was just reflecting what I have read in previous posts over the course of FY2018.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Sorry I made a major typo-should have been 4517 not 4417 in my query. Thank you for the update. But that means they are 5 cars short of the target since it is the in-service cars that count. It is up to BBD to get them to TTC in time for inspect so they need to build that 2 weeks or so into...

But it won't count in the FY 2018 tally as it is not in service. Did that end up at 4417, making it 61 put into service this year?
