Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

I caught car 6207 on CP today. I assume that it’s headed to Thunder Bay.

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Saw car 56 on CP today (that means three of these things were shipped to Thunder Bay within a week).

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

Thanks for the info-I had wondered what those numbers were. I can tell you that the number of the car in the first picture is 53. The number for the second car wasn't visible in any of my shots. There aren't any tracking apps like the ones that you might use for transit vehicles or airplanes...

Metrolinx: Bombardier Flexity Freedom & Alstom Citadis Spirit LRVs

I spotted two in-transit Flexity Freedoms this past weekend on CP (one Saturday and one Sunday). Curiously, they were both on a Toronto-Winnipeg train that doesn’t stop at Lambton Yard in West Toronto. I take it this means they're in transit to Thunder Bay.

    Toronto U of T: Victoria University Integrated Learning Centre | 24m | 5s | U of T | Brook McIlroy

I just noticed the proposal sign the other night. To be honest, I won't be that sad to see Northrop Frye go. I had a tutorial there during my first year, and all I can remember are cramped, stuffy, and windowless rooms.

    Train Spotting

Apologies for the confusion - I was told they were Leopards by someone who I thought knew a lot about military stuff. After asking around, I found out that these are actually British Challenger 2 vehicles. Because they were on CP 421 (a Toronto to Winnipeg manifest), my suspicion is that they...

    Train Spotting

These are apparently variants of the German-made Leopard 2. The first two are actual tanks, while the other two are engineering vehicles. I don't know much more, however. As for the private car, it was brought to Canada (via Vancouver) to provide security for this shipment.

    Train Spotting

While walking along Dupont yesterday, I heard a train over my scanner. I ran to the nearest viewing point, and saw a fairly typical CP mixed freight approaching. What I was not expecting were the four military vehicles and ex CNR passenger car "Tioga Pass" on the tail end.

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

I agree, it is possible to build a multi-use trail alongside a rail line. The only major obstacle to this arrangement along the OBRY are the bridges (which are only wide enough for a track). The tracks would pretty much have to be replaced from end to end to facilitate regular passenger...

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

Orangeville councillor Todd Taylor has introduced a motion to investigate the divestment of the Orangeville Railway Development Corporation (ORDC). If successful, this could potentially result in the sale of the line, or, as the new mayor hopes, its conversion into a recreational trail and land...

Railside platform - CPR tracks at Macpherson/Madison

The abandoned south track ROW is used by a lot of people (especially during the summer) for jogging, dog walking, and cycling. While it may be safer than walking on an active track, it is still illegal. I met a train enthusiast who was once arrested by CP Police for trespassing, but I still...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

After going through some photos I took last week, I noticed that GO 602 (one of the oldest MP40s) now has the same roof-mounted particulate filter that 657-666 were delivered with. Does anyone know if this was just a one off conversion, or is GO planning to retrofit other units?

Railside platform - CPR tracks at Macpherson/Madison

I posted an image (taken on October 8th, 2018) in the "trainspotting" thread a while back. One Sunday evening, I saw an 8 axle flat car (which was empty) parked at the loading dock. I assumed that it was used to deliver a transformer, and well, I guess I was right... I believe the platform was...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I was walking through The Junction today, and noticed a new (?) signal on the ground at the Wallace Ave grade crossing (along the Barrie Line). I'm wondering if this is just a replacement for an old signal, or if it is intended to be installed at a new location.
