Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

Another study for Yonge street. More BS. The city should just select one of the many existing studies and do it. Barring that, just fix the sidewalks, put in some proper lighting, add a few benches, paving stones and be done with it. I recall studies and experimental closures that go back to the...

What a breath of fresh air. Materials, proportions, form, surprises, all coming together nicely. I love the beveled, dark edges on the concrete arches. I’m generally not a fan of raw concrete but the way it’s used here is exceptionally successful.

This construction is really zooming along. I don't think I've seen a building go up this fast before, granted, no excavation was required.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

I agree Old Boy, I felt from the beginning that it was dangerous to assume the Mueller report would eventually bring down Trump’s reign. Why bank on an unknown result? Now Trump can crow loud and clear that it really was a witch hunt and he has the Mueller report to prove. A major Democratic...

Perhaps a giant asphalt patch, I mean as in keeping with the city’s aesthetic.

I wandered by last week and was so impressed with the way this neighbourhood is developing. It’s a good model worthy of repeating. Wide sidewalks, lots of public art, thoughtful mid rise residences with plenty of street level retail. I LOVE the red railings. Does anyone know if they are...

I like this building but I wish it had the warm brassy color that was suggested in the renderings. I walked by today and noticed that a large area of the street had been torn up and filled with an ashphalt patch rather than replaced with the pavers that had been removed. WTF is it with this...

I worked on the fifth floor of this building for five years in the mid 1980’s. It was a nice building to work in. The studio I worked in was a tan brick loft with wooden beams and floors. I had a clear, westerly view from my large window. At the time there was nothing but parking lots as far as...

I like the white spandrel you’ve applied Lashlan Holmes. I also agree with The Six’s comments regarding the dull north face. It looks oppressive and it abandons the vernacular of the other three sides.

I’m not crazy about the large blank wall on the 4th (5th?) story.

The Star article states that the final stages (4 and 5) will take 10 to 15 years to complete. This has to be a mistake. The entire project was originally slated to take 12 years to complete. It’s now been in construction for 12 years with roughly 70% of the old Regent Park site replaced or under...

Those elevator columns are massive. Makes sense for an office building. The engineering and buildout methods are old school and very efficient. Very different, in nearly every way, than “The One” at Yonge and Bloor..

There’s no “there” “there”. If I were king of the forest I would ban the construction of glass boxes in T.O.

W.K. Lis, I realize the new Ellington LRT will make it much easier to get to the Science Centre and also to the Aga Khan museum but I still think Ontario Place is a better site. The new relief line won’t be completed for at least another decade and the downtown core has so much more to offer...
