    Amazon Second HQ

https://www.cp24.com/toronto-may-have-lost-out-to-washington-area-for-amazon-s-hq2-report-1.4162199 I think it was pretty much a forgone conclusion from mid 2017- Bezos already owns a home in the DC area and needs to be near his Washington Post media apparatus. It's also conveniently close to...

    Toronto Zoo Developments

Not going to be a particularly busy thread since developments at the zoo are usually slower-moving, but some interesting developments from these last few years. March 2018 Swiss Challenge RFP in response to the maglev proposal from Magnovate...

    Toronto Planetarium (50 St George, U of T, ?s, ?)

Of course, which is why the new location is a bit puzzling. They should either reuse the old planetarium building, or build a new one that can be directly accessed through the ROM. I feel like the new location is going to end up like those university department mini-museums that you...

    Toronto Planetarium (50 St George, U of T, ?s, ?)

I've always thought that planetariums are a bit of a niche attraction nowadays that might not necessarily do well on their own, as compared to being part of or beside a larger cultural institution- think of how the new Montreal Planetarium is beside the Biodome, or how the Hayden Planetarium is...

    Toronto | On The GO Mimico Condos | 75m | 27s | Stanton Renaissance | McCallum Sather

Wonder if RER is going to be funded like this.

    Toronto | York University/Seneca College: Markham Centre Campus | 56m | 13s | York University | Diamond Schmitt

Of course, these projects weren't explicitly forbidden from being completed, it's just that the Ford government has placed a huge, inconveniently timed hurdle in the way. Whether or not these projects are 'cancelled' or not depends on whether or not the universities commit to finding alternate...

    Toronto | Design Haus | 52m | 17s | Shiu Pong | Kirkor Architects

Probably a recreation out of new brick, as I don't recall that they recycled any of the old brick. If they do it decently (not like Tableau and its butchered facade), it should still better than what 75% of new-build tower podiums look like, IMO.

    Toronto | Lakeview Village | ?m | ?s | Greenpark

Some renderings and an article: https://lakeviewcommunitypartners.com/mississauga-project-lakeview/ https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2018-10-24/former-coal-plant-to-become-4-6-billion-oasis-on-lake-ontario?__twitter_impression=true Looks like a mini version of the Portlands.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Good article by Shawn Micallef- literally what does Tory want his legacy to be, since there has been so little meaningful civic action done during his mayoralty? Is the mayoralty of Toronto a sort of consolation prize to ensure that the political office checkbox is ticked? It took John Tory...

Toronto Municipal Election 2018: Mayor’s Race

It took John Tory decades of effort to become mayor, so why is he squandering the opportunity? https://www.thestar.com/opinion/star-columnists/2018/10/12/it-took-john-tory-decades-of-effort-to-become-mayor-so-why-is-he-squandering-the-opportunity.html

Montreal and Toronto round up 1st and 3rd respectively on Strategy in fDi Intelligence's Digital Economies of the Future 2018/19 rankings: https://www.fdiintelligence.com/Locations/Asia-Pacific/Singapore/Digital-Economies-of-the-Future-2018-19-the-results...

    Amazon Second HQ

Interesting- the more victories Trump gets, the higher Toronto's odds might get. I expect a decision to likely be made after the US midterms. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-toronto-amazon-hq2-visit-20181012-story.html

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Already past- but a good way to see who's on the voting rolls for the new wards: https://twitter.com/kristynwongtam/status/1046800662602952706 https://myvote.toronto.ca/home

Geez you're coming off strong. I still strongly believe that there's ways of making window wall work- it has to do with the individual project management in the firm as well, and how well they can maneuver these sort of developer demands.

IBI Group seems to be absolutely schizophrenic in terms of the quality of their output.
