It's a very tight site requiring them to keep moving the ramp around. They are also going deeper than most condos (5 floors) which is even harder in a tight area. Other things like traffic patterns and access to the site all impact construction.
Good news is that they have hit bottom and...
Post 616 in this thread. August. Boring complete.
Post 619 in this thread. August. Crane is being put up.
Bluescape managed the Bloor Street Project.
Here is a quote confirming this:

This isn't a standard build and there are a number of risks that I would monitor as a purchaser to make sure you don't have problems down the road.
Why do you think they didn't simply excavate this site like they do most condo buildings? The reason is the site is contaminated and built on...
Thanks for the update.
This has to be the slowest build currently going on. They finished all of the foundation work in August for the tower. That was by far and away the hardest part of this job. This site 100 years ago was under water. The soil there is anything but stable - when you...
The view is great, as is the open living area.
Was thinking the same thing about the shower door. Looks like a do-it yourself job as opposed to an original install. Maybe it's just the fact that its on top of the tub instead of being floor to ceiling.
Maybe its just the perspective of...
The building is not done
If you look at the renderings on the SFC page you will see the building is not complete (bottom left of the media page has all the renderings)

The south side of the building has a strip running vertical where the hoist is right now. That...
This one has absolutely crawled over the last 2 months. It was moving so great before that. If this is all the progress they can make in good weather this project is going to take forever.
I don't have all the details but from what I've heard, it's been that way for a long time. Would say 10 years maybe. The guy started to build it without a permit. There would be no chance he would get approved to build something of that size. Eventually they shut down construction and it's...
There is no excuse for either one of these accidents. Both were entirely preventable. Would you be telling the same story if somebody was actually hurt by the falling tools or wood planks? I don't think they care at all if the east side is accident free. That should be the expectation...
They just didn't fasten down the wood platform for the scafolding properly. Stupid mistake that was totally avoidable. No difference then their other mistake. They have been very lucky that somebody hasn't been hurt or killed so far. Sadly though its just a matter of time until something...
Second accident at this site today. Wood from scafolding smashed into Royal Trust Tower across the street this morning. Broke a number of windows. Combined with accident last week I'm wondering how long the city will let them continue with this project.
They will be starting the roof on Nov 21.
Simcoe Street, south of Wellington Street to Front Street will be closed to all traffic Nov 21 at 7pm until Nov 30 at 8pm. This restriction will be in place as the top of the RBC Centre building is constructed and put into place by PCL Construction...
