Y/Eg has a vibrant street life and culture, not only near the intersection but extending up to Blythwood, east past Mt. Pleasant, over to Avenue Rd and south around Davisville. It's a happening place 24/7. Even at 3 a.m. there's always a bar or nightclub or theatre you can go chill out in...
None, absolutely none. An underground LRT vehicle at full capacity is just as good as a half-empty T1 car to existing subway-boarders. Not only would the line start to turn a profit in the existing catchment, but the extension out towards Malvern would attract thousands more riders, including...
Weren't these the very same types of arguments they used to rationalize the Sheppard Line? Where does the bulk of Sheppard patronage come from again... yup, bus feeders NOT the dozens of recently built condos that cluster the Yonge to Don Mills strip. It's like we're allowing history to repeat...
West of Morningside, yes. I think they plan on veering the LRT line into Malvern T.C. and hence forego the service to Meadowvale. 13 Rouge Hill will probably be reinstated for the Morningside to Lawrence East stretch.
Here's a fantasy map I first posted over at Skyscrapercity. :)
Basically it calls for:
- Bloor-Danforth Subway extension to Sherway Gardens
- NEW Eglinton Subway Line from Sherway Gardens to Highland Creek via Pearson Int'l Airport, via Overlea-Don Mills wye
- NEW Peel Regional Hwy...
I don't see why the stop locations couldn't have been: Cummer, Steeles, Clark, Centre-John, Bay Thorn-Helen and Langstaff (RHC) which would serve both sides of the 407? Bunker-Longbridge is yet another glaring example of planning for future condo-dwellers while totally ignoring existing...
The most logical course of action would be to connect both LRT lines via YUS and Sheppard subways. Depending on the depth of the Yonge Line between Finch and Sheppard, a secondary tunnel could be built on top of or adjacent to the existing tracks. As for the Sheppard Line, conversion to LRT is...
But nowhere near the level of frequency or reliability required to consider taking the GO a viable option. By the time one gets to the Milton line, awaits a train, gets off at Union, awaits a connecting Stoufville train, and takes that to Kennedy one already would long have arrived at Kennedy...
So it's cost of labour that preventing so many of these subway proposals from coming to fruition? And to think once upon a time a transcontinental ralway was built for next to nothing by toda's standards.
So what you're all advocating is a private ROW adjacent to the Milton Line? That I'd endorse, along with Hurontario LRT from Port Credit to downtown Brampton. A stop at around Jane Street would allot interchnages off the TC line, getting those commuters to an actual nodal destination alot...
I would, what's the point of riding a subway line that takes two hours to get you anywhere? I doubt any Peel Regioner will appreciate adding another 50 unneccesary minutes to their commutes. I think both the Yonge Line and BD should add adjacent express lines to their regular local services such...
It's a give and take situation though. If anything, at least Transit City has sparked media attention and some public interest in expanding transit services again. I don't honestly beleive we'll be getting every TC line as its currently proposed. I feel some orridors will demand even higher...
I'm back ;)!
Ugh, I hate the quality of service in southern Etobicoke. Once in the elapsed time it took one eastbound 501 to reach Islington from Long Branch last summer, a total of 6 route 110s appeared. I totally agree the service is unsuitable. However why must that be a reflection of...
And the slander and accusations continue. Seriously if no one can read Steve_D's posts and not see how vindictive and mean he's been to me from day one (from back when he was the artist formerly known as bjl formerly known as I-Z1), how he's been trying to destroy my credibility and change other...
