    Transit Fantasy Maps

Plan B (update to SmartTrack 2.0 http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/transit-fantasy-maps.3005/page-292#post-1109076 ) Convert the GO Stouffville line to Electric Multiple Units (EMU) with 3-4 minute headways. EMU’s are like subway cars that run on railroad tracks. They accelerate and stop...

Just wondering Have you folks taken the Sheppard LRT into account. It's fully funded and check out Metrolinx's map

You LRT people are so yesterday. Metrolinx is going EMU.

It's sad that there hasn't been a proper definition of the problem. Steve Munro always notes the absence of a demand flow analysis. So many posts in this thread clearly show a lack of common understanding and ignorance of basic principles. Scarborough has much suburban density housing but...

Like how are they going to get the buses there? Ever been to Progress and McCowan?

Is SmartTrack at 7 trains per hour adequate to replace the SRT at Lawrence (40 buses per hour)? Hint - No. http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/ttc-scarborough-rt-replacement-and-extension-city-of-toronto-design-phase.2975/page-598#post-1133335

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

There is a fully built east/west subway station under the Yonge Queen subway station! You can see how to combine a Queen subway with the Stouffville Go line and tie in Don Mills by using EMU's in SmartTrack 2.0 and if the UPX goes by Dufferin, we can throw it in, too...

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

There will be challenges to get school kids to walk from where the buses drop them off, but it's still doable if Midland has to be closed. There is a creek south of Lawrence, that crosses Midland. Does this pose a problem for cut and cover? Steve Munro, never short of opinions, has said "an...

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

How many lanes do you need for cut and cover? There are two secondary schools and a middle school in that stretch of Midland with plenty of school buses lined up in front.

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

I've been there. The problem is that Metrolinx bought the route from a railway company and the route has to be railway gauge unless they decommission the route. That forced me to be creative use EMU's that run on railway tracks. SmartTrack 2.0 also addresses the East York issues. SmartTrack...

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

    1) Why not save our tax money by running the subway under Midland Avenue? It’s shorter! 2) Is SmartTrack at 7 trains per hour adequate to replace the SRT at Lawrence (40 buses per hour)? 3) After spending over $4 billion, is there equitable TTC service north of the 401 in Scarborough? 4) Will...

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

After spending over $4 billion for SSE and LRT for central Scarborough, where is the equitable TTC service north of the 401 in Scarborough? http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/transit-fantasy-maps.3005/page-292#post-1109076
