News from the Middle East

And Hamas got the war they wanted. Both sides have acted appallingly.

Imagine thinking Palestinian oppression started on October 7.

I think you
I have had several Iranian friends posting about the huge numbers of dead Iranians - with photos - in my IG feed. I have no idea if it's an accurate count. But to discount it as Israeli propaganda is a stretch, I think.

Israel as a nation has a right (and obligation) to defend itself. I think they've gone well beyond that in Gaza since the Oct 7 attacks. Netanyahu probably thanks Hamas daily for saving his political hide.
You're just lashing out for getting called out on writing off dead Iranians as propaganda. Like I said before dead Palestinians are the only casualties you count.
I think you're confusing my post for someone else's. Your reply (above) quoted the second of my paragraphs.

Not mad, just confused. I think this was my first post in this thread

Weren't you defending the sinking of a defenseless Iranian ship the other day?
It's war (albeit undeclared), and the Iranian vessel was a warship in international waters, so a fair target. Same as when, during the undeclared Falklands War, the British submarine HMS Conqueror sank the Argentine cruiser ARA General Belgrano in international waters. The Iranian frigate IRIS Dena was hardly defenseless, being armed with two triple anti-submarine torpedo launchers, hull-mounted sonar, and an ASW-helicopter. Does this ship look defenseless to you?

However the Iranian captain does not seem to have remembered that he was at war and seemingly had no ASW underway, and thus lost his ship.

Ok. While I disagree. Its still disgusting for the Americans to plead with the rescuers to leave the survivors in the Ocean. That's actually a war crime too.

I'm sure all you pro war guys will defend that too. All's far in love and war I guess for some on this site.

Seems to be a spike of deaths due to 'non-combat incidents' at American bases in the Middle East. Must be a coincidence.

We don't know what they consider a "non combat incident" but it is rather moot anyway. He was a member of the military of a belligerent party. The Pentagon or friendly media might be using the term to downplay deaths like this to the equivalent of 'shit happens'.

You seem to be placing equal weight on both parties when one party is disproportionately responsible for more death and destruction.
I think that is a function of capability. If Hamas has Israel's capabilities, I doubt they would stop until every Jewish Israeli was dead.

@narduch claim:
Americans to plead with the rescuers to leave the survivors in the Ocean

@narduch supposed proof:

The only question is if @narduch read the article he linked:
WASHINGTON, March 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. is pressing Sri Lanka not to repatriate the survivors from an Iranian warship it sank this week or the crew of a second Iranian ship that is in Sri Lankan custody, according to an internal State ‌Department cable seen by Reuters.

Not sure if it is a language problem (not knowing what the word "repatriation" means), or most likely the usual shenanigans (like claiming that Israel's Iron Dome has been destroyed, while linking a tweet that Israel cannot guarantee an early warning of missile attacks by text messages).

But in case it's a language problem, let me explain what the article actually says: US is asking Sri Lanka not to send the rescued Iranians back to Iran. Nowhere does it say that the US was demanding that Sri Lanka left the Iranian sailors to drown.

Can we stop with blatant lies here? I know you want to carry all the water for the IRGC, but can we be reasonable and responsible with what sorts of information we post here?

Spreading conspiracy theories is not okay.

Sorry didn't think I would be accused of spreading propaganda for posting an article form Reuters.

You can say all you want about the Iron Dome but Tel Aviv and Israel is getting bombed to shit now. I'm not gong to argue with you and split hairs on the efficacy of the Iron Dome. You can claim it is still working if you want. I don't care.

The US and Israel are obviously getting embarrassed now. I don't need to defend that opinion. Its the truth.

Speaking of spreading lies. This is as big bullshit as when Keith accuses me of being a Putinsist.

This is the classic defence of the resident war mongers when its going badly or if anyone has the audacity to call out the 2 most evil nations in the World (Israel and United States).
