50 Queens Quay East (Park) | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

There are gaps in fence at the NW and NE corners. I took a stroll through there this morning.

Also, White Birch varietals typically like soil mesic (medium moisture) to slightly moist. Putting them up on constructed mounds that look a bit compacted.............ummm....ok.

As I was by here, today, July 23rd, 2025, time to revisit this past post:

The same trees today:

Yup, that's $2,000 down the toilet......err......well.....I'm afraid it's a bit more......that 's just for the 3 Birch here...............Doesn't include the sod....or

Yeah, there's more dead trees, not sure it's all Birch, but mostly.....about 1/3 of all the trees on the site.......add it to the grass failure........Pfft start at $20,000, just to get back the 1/2 assed idea they started with.....

Two points for spotting what caught my attention here:

Hint, it's not the mechanical equipment......well.....sorta.

This is the obvious low point of the site......reeds (marsh plants) are growing.....this is the one spot you might want to plant White Birch, instead, we get mech, that will not appreciate being in the middle of a marsh, sigh

Correct me if I’m wrong, the city hasn’t assumed this property yet. Hopefully this is remedied at the expense of the current owners. Still disappointing nonetheless, just a longer wait for fleshed out trees here.

I believe that is correct.

Whether Menkes eat the cost.....or the City does......someone should answer for a design choice that never made any sense. Birch in those conditions were always likely to fail.

Really even as an interim design, it makes no sense.

They are certainly removing dead trees but I hope they are not planting new replacements in the hottest days of the summer.

That is exactly what they are doing, right at the moment of peak-stress for trees where transplants are least likely to take, even in favourable weather. Maybe they'll get lucky.....

It looks like they removed at least 7 trees in blue compared to July 7 and they removed the grass from the core in red.
I did not see them planting any new trees and I think the remaining were existing.
No work happening today.
What’s next? How are they filling in the the two cores?
