Has anyone got aerial shots of the Cherry St Lift Bridge as it would be a good time to do while it still in service before it is close and removed???

Been asked that question to a posting elsewhere and I don't do it and nice to have here for archiving.
And one more wide shot.

Great shots, It was out of order in 2019 (as noted above) and I think it is now unable to 'get an erection' so we may never see it in the vertical position again.
The last erection lasted so long they had to call in the specialists! Major surgery was required and it hasn't been the same again :(

The Railway bridge over the Don is history as it has been cut up into small sections. Looks like the first long beam for the new pedestrian/cycles bridge has been installed on new footing to the west of the old Don location.

A new concrete beam with a lot of ducting in it has been placed into position on the north side of the pedestrian/cycles bridge over the Don.

Asphalt has been removed from the old westbound bridge and nothing else.

A few photos from this morning to back up drum118's post:

It is 'interesting' they have removed the old rail bridge as someone (the city?) spent $$$ fixing it up about 3-4 years ago. I had assumed they would re-purpose it for cycling but I guess not. The rail bridge certainly was also used to carry conduits and these seem to be being replaced by the new 'conduit-beam' further upstream. It looks to me as though the Don is being widened, the concrete with the arrow looks like a new bridge support on west bank??

Apparently the fellow found in the water was brought back, briefly.........before dying in hospital a short while ago.

While I want to applaud the efforts to save the driver, once recovered; and absent fulsome facts, don't want to throw anyone under the proverbial bus, I do wonder if the outcome might have been different had more aggressive efforts been made to recover the driver earlier.

They pulled him from the water at about 1:15pm according to the above, which is roughly 4hrs 30m after he went into those frigid waters.

I'm not sure why you're saying 'If an accident'; that there was a collision between 2 vehicles has been documented in this thread.

But to add the on-point quote from the story linked above:

It's remarkable how long people can survive/be revivable when in cold waters.

Looks roughly like the spot .. and doubt that can stop a car that well (although note this image is from 2021 street view).

From CTV news. “According to police, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by the 18-year-old was travelling west on Lake Shore Boulevard when he lost control and struck an eastbound 2023 Ford F150.”
Assuming the Jeep did some sort of 180 before the impact based on the rear end damage?

What are the odds this car hit or flew over this spot where the vertical support was missing? It probably wouldn’t have made a difference.
I wonder if the roller coaster road had any impact on the choice of speed?
Driving on a frozen road probably doesn’t help the traction.
A sad day for all.

Bridge work on a Sunday?
Emergency patching of the north bound deck or preparation for the imminent demolition?

Maybe Batman knows?

My dog would never walk over that bridge. Carrying her halfway worked once. Now I can’t get her within 50 yards of that bridge.

I think that WT awarded the demo contract several months ago so I bet everyone wants to get it gone ASAP, I was there yesterday and there were lots of utility locates sprayed in the area. I bet they start work the minute the new bridges are open. This contract to a 'heavy lift' crane contractor may be a clue...

In the past (and in the future??) they had to dredge the Keating Channel. Do they ever dredge the Ship Channel or will they have to do dredging there once it becomes an 'overflow' for the Don - presumably that will bring down lots of silt and junk.
