Canadian National Exhibition

It may be time for a pause and rethink for sure. But the calls of CNE's death are almost as much a part of Toronto tradition as the fair is itself.
My vote for the reimagined CNE is to get rid of the Midway. I hate the sirens, bells, people shouting.... that's not entertainment. Keep the rides, maybe get more. Improve the food building, the main draw of the CNE for many, as it's nearly impossible to get a table in there, and when you do it's covered in ketchup or spilt food/drink.

With liquor licenses at the Food Building, patios, and surroundings! So we can walk around with a cool beer in our hand, like in Europe.

For you maybe not but for the over 1 million others per year it is.

Even my aunt who loves to shop still plays Crown and Anchor, The Birthday Game, etc on the midway. If I want to go shopping I will go to the One of a kind show, Home Show, etc.

I agree with W.K. Lis though when he said the food building needs to be improved. It is iconic but at the same time it is 70 years out of date.

Yes.

A small part of the Food Building already has a liquor licence. Though I am teetotal, having an expanded area to bring alcohol would work wonders (especially the casino). Wonderland already allows this (except in rides, video arcades, children's areas, souvenir stores, and first-aid stations). For obvious reasons, the rides themselves, the entire children's area, the farm, the Nintendo tent, and first-aid stations will not allow alcohol to be brought in.

Would like to see the air show sitting on the grass drinking a cool beer. Unless you're the one flying those things, of course.

Interesting rant from Amusement Insiders' Brenden Cross:

I agree with this guy 100%! It is INSANE to close down outdoor amusement parks like Canada's Wonderland or ANY out door park for that matter! We learned last week (from a New York Times investigation no less!) that the CDC grossly exaggerated the risk of covid-19 transmission in the outdoors. The actual risk outdoors is infinitesimal. I would suggest that people in high risk groups e.g. in their '80s and '90s shouldn't be on rollercoasters anyway! Why rob the young and healthy - especially young children of yet another Summer of fun? Haven't they sacrificed enough in the interest of "protecting" people who are on the final legs of their life?

We all know, sadly, that these endless lockdowns are taking a massive toll on peoples mental health - too often with tragic consequences. We also know that mental depression causes a depression of our immune system leaving us vulnerable to viruses and pathogens! It is almost as if these dictates from Queen's Park are intended to make the Covid-19 death toll even worse!

Overlooked for some reason by the "experts" advising our stupid premier is the fact that Vitamin D deficiency is a major risk factor for people who are infected by Covid-19. It is a major reason why people with high levels of melanin in their skin are dying at higher rates. And how do we get Vitamin D? From being OUTSIDE IN THE SUN!

I think the time has come to lift ALL restrictions outside and inside! By now everyone in a high risk group has had an opportunity to get vaccinated. If they still feel at risk then they are free to shelter in place in their homes. For everyone else let us get on with LIVING!

Petition:

It is time that we must save the CNE. It only costs pocket change for the province and the feds to keep the Ex afloat. The fair is very profitable when operating.

It's easy to be very profitable when you never invest in anything!

I find it hard to believe the Provincial or Federal government won't come through with a package to keep it afloat. It's pocket change for a lot of goodwill with an upcoming election (at least provincially).
