I looked for ages to find made in Canada motorcycle boots. Finally I found Boulet https://bouletboots.com/history/ and have several riding seasons now on their boots. I bought my Tilley hat because it’s made in Canada. I buy my leather belts, wallet, etc. from the Canadian leather craftspeople at the Cabbagetown festival. Buying Canadian probably cost me at least 1/2 as much again as the foreign import. I’m now looking to replace my Chinese Joe Rocket jacket with one of these made in Canada beauties https://www.bristolleather.com/

Some made in Canada items here https://www.madeinmooseland.ca/footwear/

Do you care about made in Canada? Or, more accurately how much $$ do you care?

Short and simple: no.

One reason is that I don't perceive myself wealthy enough to shell out extra money for something just out of nationalistic sentiment. I may choose to spend a tiny bit extra if I feel that I know the company/brand owner well enough and align with them (regardless of nationality), but even that is unlikely.

Overall, both capital and manufacturing is extremely global today anyway, so "made in xxx" tag means so little. An (extreme) example of this is people who still think Tim Hortons is Canadian.

Yes.

I have a real leather jacket that was made in Canada; and it was showing its age, rather than replace it with schlock, I look it to a local custom leather clothier and had them re-line and re-dye it.

As @Avenue noted, I'm not blindly patriotic, which is to say I won't pay for our schlock instead of someone else's; but I will pay for local quality.

There are, of course, other factors such as personal taste; and whether a choice is practical from a financial perspective. I have more wiggle room than some on the latter, but it certainly isn't limitless.

But buying local and supporting quality is definitely one factor in my purchasing.

To an extent, yes, but we're not really huge consumers anyway. In some things I like buying quality and then using/wearing it for the next 20 years - style bedamned (ask my wife). In some areas, it is more complicated than simply Canadian vs foreign ownership. There are all sorts of foreign companies with Canadian subsidiaries or branch plants that further our economy. On the other hand, even though it is a Canadian headquartered company doesn't necessarily mean their products are not produced offshore. I have a Woods heavy Arctic parka that is about 40 years old. I don't know where their current products are made by the quality is not the same as it used to be. Having said that, I was one of the folks that jumped on the Kraft-Heinz vs. French's bandwagon when KH closed their tomato processing plant in Leamington, even though they still have other manufacturing plants in Canada. I do try to patronize Gay Lea foods since it is a co-operative of several Ontario producers.

I do, usually. Depending on what the product is.

I'd rather my money go to my cocitoyens than elsewhere. The price isn't in question. I enjoy my salary so why shouldn't I help ensure that fellow Canadians enjoy theirs?

I only eat Canadian (and mostly Ontarian) produce....all year....I eat in season. It's not hard. Just have to not be a spoilt first world consumer.
Cars though? Not so much.

Food for sure; clothing where possible; machinery.....Deutschland.

Above website lists made in Canada products

I check out labels and try Canada first where possible

That piece of nonsense website uses a service that blocks Tor. Wankers.

Yes of course, would definitely try to support my local businesses of made in Canada vs. China (when possible)
Lots of people losing their jobs so doing my small part with my wallet to help my community

It's a bit weak.

I immediately gravitated towards the outdoors section, of course and was presented with a rather weak listing of mostly retailers. Retailers that sell anything from anywhere, like Sail, for example. Whilst somehow neglecting to mention MEC and Atmosphere.

Weird.

The knife section is dope though! I'm pretty good on knives...I have an Austrian Glock bayonet blade as my main sticker and smaller Gerber for eating with, but could maybe use a good skinning knife....made in Canada!

Yes i do. A lot of my suits and dress shirts are by the brand Jack Victor made in Montreal. Good quality and are a good value compared to similarly priced brands.
