Is that a sample piece of brick/precast on the column in the central spine there?

It's part of the Stantec building.

Wow great eye!
I'm very happy that the Wellington north facing buildings are all going to be bricked and goes so seamlessly with the street and the heritage of the neighbourhood, truly creating a Million dollar row downtown!

It's a shame they killed the diagonal concrete columns shown in the earlier renders/plans for the office tower. It would have added some dimension to what is ultimately a super flat and kind of boring facade along the 2nd/3rd/4th? floors. Fingers crossed the rental and condo towers shake it up with their curtain wall glazing selection.

They did, doesn't that come after?

Not referring to the cross bracing on the upper sections of the tower, but the diagonal concrete columns shown in earlier renders. Not sure when the podium design was finalized, but it definitely lost some interesting details that have ended up as flat curtain wall.

From the Globe, slightly different design but still with neat columns:

the more i see of the office tower, the more it feels watered down. Hopefully the cross-bracing keeps it interesting as well as the brick and stonework closer to the ground level.
