2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

How many non-incumbent winners will there be on council?

  • Total voters
    22
  • Poll closed .
Did any of the other MPPs stand out? Hydro is a mess, Healthcare is a mess, Del Duca was a joke and the Kirby Go Station should be criminal.

Did they have any stand out performing cabinet ministers?
No, but again, these ministers are the same crop of people as from the McGuinty government.

If Wynne stepped down, and allowed a new leader and a new cabinet shuffle to take place, then maybe we could have seen some change and MPPs standing out.

But none of that happened, and all of this is too much "insider baseball" for the layperson anyway.

Checking it out through Wikipedia, I think among current ministers, only Chiarelli, Gravelle, and Sousa have spent significant time in the McGuinty cabinet. (I could be wrong, though)

They also needed to make tangible infrastructure investments or programs that bettered peoples lives. Most people haven't noticed any.

I'm sorry but this can't be taken seriously. It has "there's no subway station in front of my suburban house - TTC sucks!!" all over it.

OK so please list some major accomplishments since the last election.

Wynne is tanking for a reason. Had she done a better job she wouldn't have.

Though Wynne and the Liberals probably deserve a time-out (for the things they screwed up) BUT they HAVE done lots of good things like prescriptions for young people, more day care, improvements in health care, more transit etc. I have lived in Ontario since 2000 and it is a vastly different (and improved) place. Could it be better? Of course!

Have you seen the price of Epipens? Even with drug pricing controls, they’re about $120 each here in Canada.

If you have a child in school, you need to supply one to them. If you have a kid in before and/or after school care, you also need to supply them with one. And and as our daughter’s allergist has recommended, it’s a good idea for each parent to have one and an extra that can be sent with them for sleepovers at grandparents, etc.

That’s $600 in life-saving medication that is now covered by the government. Those drugs help protect kids like my daughter from arrogant parents who treat school bans on peanuts like it’s a mere recommendation that doesn’t need to be followed because their kid won’t eat anything but peanut butter sandwiches

I’m not even a Liberal voter, but I will defend and promote the ever loving hell out of Wynne’s choice to pay for drugs for those under 25.

We have had drug coverage through work. But not all parents are that lucky. My child’s life isn’t made more worthy of protection simply because we have work benefits or can afford it.

OK so that's one program in 4 years of office. I've benefitted from it as well but I've also annoyingly had some items not covered. Things that I would expect to be covered. And cynically they only implemented this program because they were trying to steal the NDPs thunder.

And I liked the minimum wage increase too.

But overall I don't think they accomplished enough these past 4 years.

And that's not even touching on the bad parts (hydro sale, Kirby GO Station, Casino Sale, etc)

It's unfortunate for Milczyn, he could have helped rebuild the party.

But I agree. I'd welcome him back at City Council.
I couldnt agree more. Milcyzn is a really good guy, and i'd love to have him back at council 10 times out of 10 rather than having Grimes or DiCiano sticking around. Unfortunately, there's no way i'm touching Wynne's government as much as I like Milczyn as an MPP.

It was good the way Milczyn got the subway extended to Honeydale mall. This provides better access to 427, reduces congestion on Dundas, better serves Mississauga and reduces inconvenience during construction.
Oops - that didn't happen. Maybe it would have happened if he were effective.

Maybe if we had a mayor that actually put a westward Bloor-Danforth extension as a priority, the province would see that the city was actually serious about the proposal so they would put some money towards the extension and accelerate the work.

The city didn't place this extension as a priority, so why would the province?

We are too busy building subways in Scarborough to spend money on subway extension that makes sense.

As you are well aware, the party line must be towed.
