WOW that food hall looks amazing! I hope the downtown store will be as large or larger. I love the Pusateri's in Yorkville but it is so cramped you can barely swing a cat in there.

Looks great! But i find Pusateri's food looks better than it's tastes. I used to shop at the Avenue road location, some of the quality of the goods didn't match the price point. I quit shopping there when they were shut down because of a rat infestation.

Ha ha - fair enough. I'd forgotten that incident. Although if one stopped shopping at every grocery store that ever once had a rat issue, one would be forced to grow all one's own food. The main difference is that Pusateri's got caught.

I don't shop at Pusateri's often enough to comment meaningfully on the quality, but is there a huge difference in product range between this food hall and, say, the Pusateri's at Bayview Village? (I haven't been to the Avenue Road store location in years, primarily because parking always seemed like an ordeal).

Looks a bit like the Bayview Village store. The Yorkville store is the one I most frequent (due to distance from my home) and I consider it a necessary evil.

I am really close to that store but find it way too small and crowded to navigate, so I don't shop there.

I know i don't post much on this forum, I'm more of a fly on the wall but Sherway has a special place in my life for me. Since 1990 I've been going there and its changed so much. Once having such nice Christmas displays to a plan book now, its sad with what kids miss nowadays.

I pop in to Sherway way once to twice a week (mostly for the Lego store, Timothy's and HMV) I use the Saks entrance and it is so dead, I also got word from a realtor that they are not happy with the sales at Sherway. I also heard the many patrons miss the old food court as well as I, it was so different and unique. Its a shame that CF failed to notice what they had with that gem, I find the new food court somewhat disappointing with the limited selection and overall bland feel to it. You would thing having a central square like Sherway the food court location was prime for a slight upgrade.

Anyway thats my insight, I can bring more updates if anyone is interested.

^ Sherway Gardens has a special place in my life also. I learned to drive in the Sherway Gardens parking lot way back in the late 1970's. In those day's shopping on Sunday was banned and so the vacant shopping mall parking lots were perfect spots for novice drivers. I can still remember driving around and around the outer perimeter road (taking turns with my brother while dad looked on) .

They all seem to be so cramped. Bay View Village location as well.

I really don't see people going to Sherway Gardens to do their grocery shopping.

Anyway, I still find it interesting that there still isn't any real discussion at City planning, even in the Sherway Area Study, about getting rapid transit to the area. If they are in fact planning for the big box across the street (including the now-closed Chapters) to become high-density residential, there needs to be some better transit integration. Re: The point that Sherway is not a destination is also false. Enclosed shopping malls act as regional community centres. I once remember Mr. Tory talking about how the Scarborough Town Centre was the only remaining "city centre" in Toronto without adequate transit (as a reason for building the subway), and I couldn't help but think about South Etobicoke. We are building subways into Vaughan and Richmond Hill "town centres" but ignoring ones in our own city. The fact that it will be easier (and probably take less time) to get from Vaughan into downtown using TTC than it will be from South Etobicoke is unfortunate. Anyway, that is it for my rant.
