It looks like WAM development has plans for this stretch of Queen St east.

According to a recent BisNow article:

In Toronto, WAM has two downtown sites staked for development. On the south side of Queen east of Sherbourne, it’s assembled nearly 10 parcels, including a car dealership, to form a four-acre site. Stefan says the vision (above) is for three residential towers (1,730 units) and 300k SF of commercial space, with retail-lined laneways providing passage from Queen to Richmond Street (below). “We’re place-making on Queen,” notes Rob, who lived on the block for years. “With the sheer size of this, and the pedestrian connectivity, and rejuvenation of Queen, we’ll be creating a neighbourhood hub, which it’s lacked for so long.”

I didn't find an application on the City's website... I recall reading a while ago that these might be purpose built rental.

Wow, 1,730 units. That stretch of Queen seems like a tough nut to crack. Certainly can't accuse them of lacking chutzpah.

Also, if they're the ones who knocked down 267 Queen St E, they have my eternal scorn. That was a really nasty move.

Neat. And a bold vision for sketchy Moss Park.

The biznow article also mentions a Church and Wellesley project on the north west corner. Is there a thread for that one, too?

Since the oil business is down now and the demand there is slowing down the money is coming to Toronto. Probably a safer investment.

WAM is garbage. Little concerned seeing them here in Toronto and with such a large project. Hope to be worrying about nothing.

This one isn't going to go down well in this neighbourhood. OCAP has been talking about the abandoned hotel on the southwest corner here as a particularly egregious example of a rooming house abandoned until it either collapses or gets bought out. The development of the southeast side can only mean further pressure here, especially on the shelter just north on Sherbourne. Gentrification might push out the homeless and impoverished here but it sure as hell won't solve the problems the people in this neighbourhood face.

I've been located in this neighbourhood for 20 plus years now. Every new condo has improved the area tremendously. This will help immensely. Looking forward to it.
