FRAM and Cadillac Fairview bring ultra-modern FLAIRE to Shops at Don Mills

Flaire, by The Cadillac Fairview Corporation and FRAM Building Group, brings a distinctive new option to living at the Shops at Don Mills, becoming the third of seven condo developments to join this unique urban village at Don Mills Road and Lawrence Avenue East. This community-centric, pedestrian-friendly enclave is the new heart of an ultra-modern paradise for shoppers and foodies, with a hip, abundantly green heritage that lends a retro touch to Flaire.

The flourishing Shops at Don Mills neighbourhood is rapidly becoming one of the city’s most sought-after shopping and dining destinations. Celebrity chef Mark McEwan’s upscale eatery Fabbrica and gourmet food market McEwan, hotspots Joey and Glow, Canada’s first Anthropologie store and numerous boutiques are about to be joined by Bier Markt and the city’s first Fisker showroom, which offers the world’s only plug-in hybrid luxury car. Flaire’s two 11-storey towers are horizontally swathed in undulating ribbons of glass and concrete balconies that both harken to the area’s 1950s’ heritage and respect the aesthetic of its hip present, the work of Toronto firm Giannone Petricone Associates. A four-storey podium offers residents communal amenities including a rooftop terrace, an ideal way to connect to fellow residents and the surrounding Shops.

Beyond the resort-like front courtyard, the rich, colourful lobby boasts light walls and flooring, in striking contrast to three walls of green marble, combining for a welcoming space that manages also to calm with cool, understated elegance.

The fluid exterior is mirrored in the interesting suite designs, which take advantage of abundant light and sprawling views with floor-to-ceiling windows. Custom kitchens and baths are creatively designed by Alessandro Munge of Studio Munge. Kitchens boast stainless steel appliances and fashionable stone countertops (two-bedroom suites feature convenient, contemporary islands). Details in the master ensuite and main bathrooms include polished chrome finishes, ceramic tile surrounds, custom-quality cabinets and stone countertops. Quality laminate floors are featured throughout.

Munge also applies his creativity to the amenities, including a party room where a chef’s catering kitchen and gleaming bar are perfect for entertaining. A lounge space furnished in modern, Italian-inspired style is separated from an outdoor terrace by a dramatically sculpted two-way fireplace. Spaces that flow easily indoors and out are typical of the Flaire lifestyle.

Atop the podium, an outdoor lounge takes its inspiration from Miami, with cabanas and lounge seating amid lush plantings and a specially commissioned sculpture. Residents can enjoy starlit nights with panoramic views of Shops at Don Mills and downtown Toronto, entertaining friends, cooking on modern barbecue firepits and chilling out in the cosy seating. Cedar decking and lustrous stone floors lend an upscale look. The state-of-the-art fitness centre is bright and invigorating, and a hip port-cochere and courtyard at the building’s Donway entrance further enhance the resort vibe.

Flaire will feature 297 suites where residents will enjoy the best of urban convenience and suburban elbow-room just a few minutes from downtown. One-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom units from 504 to 1,100 square feet start in the mid $200,000s.
