Thread: I'm in the market for furniture (Contemporary)

  1. I'm in the market for furniture (Contemporary)

    Hi All,

I've been loooking around for living room furniture (most notably a couch and a coffee table) and just wondering if there are any great places out there that won't break the bank. I'm willing to spend $2000 on a sofa and I guess 3-400 on a coffee table?

I've been to the following stores:

    Casalife
    StyleGarage
    Pavillion
    Visitor Parking
    InDesign
    Urban Barn
    West Elm

Wondering if I'm missing anything else.

    Thanks,

EQ3 has a few good designs.

Urban Barn, West Elm, Visitor Parking, Casalife = rubbish.

agreed... EQ3 on the otherhand, -I've heard nothing but horror stories.

  7. Stylegarage/Gus are my favorites from your list.

Roomy http://roomyinteriors.com has a number of sofas in the $2000 range.
You could also give Urban Mode a shot.

Yes, I'm a big fan of stylegarage.... just waiting for that next sale as they seem to pop up fairly often.

And yes, I've heard bad things about EQ3. The stuff looks nice, but the quality isn't there. I guess they're good for certain thinks....sort of like Ikea.

    I'll check out Urban Mode

Design Within Reach has really nice stuff - www.dwr.com
They have a store on King Street near Spadina.
They have lots of sales always so I wait for a sale before I buy anything there.

  10. Where did you hear about the Urban Barn sale? Is it before or after Christmas?

  11. We have a dining table and chairs from EQ3 and I won't ever likely buy furniture from there again. The design is nice, the pricing is average to slightly above average, and the quality is Ikea-like at best.

You should check out GH Johnson for furniture, they can get nearly everything, have a very solid reputation, and the pricing is usually the best in the city.

  12. these guys are pretty good on Queen West:

  13. agreed GH Johnson is the place to go
