Our ongoing coverage of the construction process at Madison Homes and Fieldgate Urban's ZIGG Condos continues for the 11-storey Kirkor Architects-designed development on Toronto's St. Clair Avenue West. When we last checked in on the project, forming was wrapping up on the ground floor's west side, while the first concrete forms had been installed in preparation for walls and structural columns on the building's second level. Much progress has been made in the month since, with much of the building's second floor now in place.

As was the case at the end of September, the east side of the building is furthest along, with most of the second floor walls and columns already poured, with the start of a scaffold installation in advance of the pouring of the third level. While work continues above, the interior of the ground floor remains a maze of concrete support jacks, keeping the wooden floor forms and curing concrete for the second level stable.

Aside from the building's south volume which will reduce with terraces on every floor, the layout of the floors on the north side will be quite similar to the second level. This will allow construction crews to develop a rhythm in forming and pouring levels. This rhythm should be apparent within the coming months, when floorplates begin to rise at an increased pace.

The next major milestone at ZIGG will come with the first installation of precast concrete panels for the building's exterior envelope. We will be watching for the tower crane to begin hoisting them into place in the coming weeks!

The completed development will add 166 new condominium units to the Avenue Road and St. Clair area. Residents of the building will have access to a selection of amenities like a game room, a rentable guest suite, a gym, a party room, a rooftop deck with a barbecue area and fireplace, and a pet washing station.
