We have been keeping a watchful eye on the City's ongoing Toronto Ward Boundary Review (TWBR), a process which has most recently been narrowed down to a choice of two options. One plan would see the existing number of wards remain at the current number of 44, incorporating refinements outlined during the public consultation process that ran from August to November 2015. The second option would involve the enlargement and redrawing of current ward boundaries to create a total of 26 wards, with the intention of having the revised boundaries align with existing boundaries of federal and provincial ridings.

With the two options now in place, the City of Toronto is seeking comments from members of the public regarding which plan to pursue. Feedback can be provided through a survey (available until September 23, 2016), or by attending one of the four upcoming public meetings scheduled to take place this month, listed below.

• Wednesday, September 14, Metro Hall, 55 John St., Room 310, 7 to 9 p.m.

• Thursday, September 15, Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr., Committee Room 1, 7 to 9 p.m.

• Monday, September 19, North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St., Committee Room 1, 7 to 9 p.m.

• Wednesday, September 21, Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall, Meeting Room 1, 7 to 9 p.m.

Using the input collected through the survey and public meetings, the next step will be the creation and submission of a TWBR supplementary report and a final report to be considered at an upcoming October 26th Executive Committee meeting.
